Exhilarating snowmobile drive on Langjökull glacier
Discover the eerie beauty of ice caves inside the glacier
A truly memorable way to explore Langjökull and its caves

À quoi s'attendre

Every winter, Iceland's mighty glaciers are covered in a fresh dusting of snow – ideal for zooming across on a snowmobile adventure. Leaving Reykjavik, you'll drive to meet the monster trucks which get you out into the wilds to reach the basecamp at Langjökull. It takes roughly one hour to get there. When conditions allow, you'll drive your snowmobile to the Ice Cave, inside the glacier itself. It's been here for more than 400 years - you can track Iceland's historic eruptions by counting the layers of ash trapped in the ice. You'll explore the network of eerie blue caves with a guide, before heading back on the snowmobiles. When we reach the Mountaineers Glacier Hut it's time to hop aboard the monster truck to ride back through Iceland's snowy terrain.

Lots of time on the bus only 50 mins snowmobiling and no mention of an ice cave at all? The actual snowmobiling and views were amazing but a lot of money for 50 mins as paid £500. Very disappointed that there was no mention of ice cave or a visit so if someone could explain why this was as I was really looking forward to that - thank you

Great

Didn’t get taken to ice cave as we were told on the day it had collapsed. Yet I’m still seeing it advertised. We were not offered to be taken anywhere else in its place. The ice caves was what I really wanted to experience and the snow mobile was just extra. Couldn’t fault the snow mobiling but disappointed overall about trip

Great

The guide on the journey to the Glacier was fantastic very knowledgeable and also the guide for the snowmobile experience. Very good trip; the only criticism is the actual snowmobile part could be a bit longer and the group should be split into two; novice and intermediate as we would have liked to go a bit quicker as it’s easier to handle them with a bit more pace and you can’t do this in a line behind slower riders.

Driver tried to collect us 20 mins earlier than stated ( 0810 instead of between 0830 and 0900). Driver was extremely safe at driving in the snowy road conditions but very slow we were over taken by several vehicles on the way to the snowmobiling. Snowmobiling due to visibility didn't get to see the ice cave. Visibility was poor. Had we have got there earlier maybe we would have had better visibility. Drive back took even longer than going.

Great

Our truck guide was fantastic and the guides at the snowmobile station were ok. The tuition on the snow mobile was ok but it would have helped if they had said more speed is better for control. Also three other snow mobiles crashed on our tour due to travelling too close to each other - I ride a motorbike and know to stay well away from the rider in front this should have been said at the briefing

The guides were obliging the hotel was swapped a week before but the holiday however the replacement hotel was excellent. The communication with TUI was excellent. One trip was cancelled due to weather but the trip was refunded immediately, another instance another holiday maker twisted her ankle and the holiday rep collected her off the tour bus and took her to hospital . All the trios were excellent Great holiday

Cannot fault the staff the service the guide and instructors the snowmobiling to the glacier is by far one of the best things I have experienced and will for manys years be one of the things I will tell friends and family how perfectly amazing it was My only critisim for this trip is the price discrepancy I purchased the trip before leaving the UK at £207 per person Once in Reykjavik tui staff gave us a wellcome pack with prices that differed greatly this snowmobile experience was available at £174 per person that is a significant reduction I get you may miss out if you don't book early but this was not the only occurrence we also booked horse riding with the rep whilst in iceland at the cost £104 per person then looking on the APP it was priced at £86 once again how can the price vary so much but also with no consistency which then would make it easier for customers to know purchasing excursions via the app was a better option or to wait untill they arrive in the destination to purchase on this occasion i could of saved @£120 on two of our excursions
