À quoi s'attendre
This tour lets you split your time between Santo Domingo's centuries-old colonial zone and its' modern shopping hub. You'll discover the Dominican capital's UNESCO-listed sights, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then hit the city's marble-tiled high street on Calle El Conde to search for souvenirs. When we reach Santo Domingo, all the top attractions are on the cards. You'll explore the colonial zone's wealth of Spanish-era architecture with cobbled streets leading to plazas, palaces, churches and castles. The sheer number of historical monuments meant its declaration as a UNESCO World Heritage Site was a mere formality. There's also a visit to the 500-year-old gothic cathedral – the oldest in the Americas – and a typical Dominican lunch at a local restaurant. After your meal, there's free time to stroll along the pedestrianized Calle El Conde, head to the Plaza España and see the Alcazar de Colon – the palace where Columbus's son lived.
