Tucked away in the southern tip of Gran Canaria is an oasis of unmatched beauty that'll make you think you're in the Sahara Desert. The sand dunes of Maspalomas are hemmed in by the resorts of Playa del Ingles, Maspalomas and Meloneras, which makes their survival all the more remarkable – and there's no more authentic way to explore them than on the back of a camel.The dunes are a habitat of undulating sands sculpted by the Atlantic trade winds over thousands of years. You'll follow a carefully designed trail that respects the eco-system. To roam through them on a camel is a thrilling experience.As well as sand dunes, the nature reserve – which covers an area twice the size of Monaco – also has typical desert features such as a tree-fringed oasis and endemic lizard species. During the 30-minute trek, you'll feel like you're in a scene from Lawrence of Arabia… until you smell the fresh Atlantic air and see the sea.

We recommend arriving before 11.00am to secure your place. In summer, waiting times can reach up to two hours, so the earlier guests arrive, the sooner they'll be able to ride

Tolle Infos über die Tiere, die freundliche Dame hat meiner Tochter in Ruhe alle Fragen beantwortet. Für wartenden Begleitpersonen hat ein Kaffee gefehlt, ich würde den Kamelausritt weiter empfehlen.

Informasjon om turen lover utsikt utover sanddynene og havutsikt. Turen gikk kun i en løype i bushen, ingen utsikt mot de faktiske imponerende sanddynene. Da er det bedre å ta turen til stranda og gå opp på en haug der.

Guiden erbjöd att ta kort men fick endast med kamel och våra ben (tog flera kort men inget går att använda). Det är en mycket kort och ganska skumpig promenad i ett naturreservat. En promenad utan kameler hade varit mer givande. Fin natur dock.

Die Tour geht nur 30 Minuten. Ist aber völlig ausreichend, perfekt für eine kleine Aktivität zwischendurch. Vom Hotel in 20 Gehminuten gut zu erreichen. Es gibt einen sehr kurzen Zuweg über das Flussbett, dann spart man sich ein paar Meter durch den Wüstensand. Vor Ort waren alle super nett. Waren direkt um 9:30 da. Es war gutes Wetter und der Andrang war so früh recht groß. Sind gegen später nochmal vorbeigekommen gegen 13:00 und es war sehr leer.

Our voucher said we had booked a camel safari at 1200 so we turned up nice and early at 1115 only to be told that the next available ride was 130 or 215. Our Tui voucher which said 1200 meant absolutely nothing to the rude woman with red hair giving ticket numbers. We had an 8 yr old with us who has a disability so can’t walk long distances so we couldn’t walk back to the hotel and couldn’t walk to the shops. We had to sit and wait for 2 hours on the last day of our holiday. A total waste.

The camel ride was a lovely way to see the dunes of Maspalomas. Great fun family activity. The staff were nice and took photos with our own camera, so you don't have to buy the official picture they take. Recommend getting to this attraction early as it is very popular and books up quickly on the day.

Und würde vorab bereits gesagt wir sollen früh dort sein da ansonsten die Wartezeiten lang sein können. Wir waren bereits um 9.30 vor Ort (was wir als früh empfinden) und haben dann dort ein Ticket erhalten um bei der Runde um 12.30 mitgehen zu können. Es würde uns zwar gesagt wir können gerne das Gelände verlassen, zum Maspalomas Beach gehen und dann wieder kommen. Geht also Erwachsene super, ist aber mit einem Kind schwierig, da die Weg dann doch zu lang sind. A

The actual camel ride was a nice experience but it would have been helpful to know that once you’d queued up outside that there would be a further wait. I feel we should have been told about the whole process; we had to wait 2 hours for our slot despite arriving at 9.30 which was the time advised by the TUI rep. We hadn’t taken snacks or playing cards or anything as we thought we’d queue outside then go straight on the camels once inside - this detail must be shared with people

After turning up at our allocated time of 12pm (that I chose on the tui app on booking), we was told "no more tickets". I proceeded to explain to them that I had booked through tui and had a time slot. The lady said " that is not right, you must come here at 9am and be given a time slot for that day." I stood my ground and showed them my confirmation from Tui and after a few sighs she said we could go on at 2.20pm (the last slot of the day). We did get on the camels and enjoyed in the end.

We arrived at 10.30 but we were given a number and had to wait for 2 hours until we were finally able to do the experience at 12.40. The waiting was a lot for our 4 years old, not to mention the heat.. maybe we could have been given time slots at the time of booking.

Es war eine lustiges und besonderes Erlebnis! Zwar war die Wartezeit mit ca 2 Stunden nicht ohne, aber der Ritt auf den Kamelen hat es wieder wett gemacht! Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Und ganz besonders wichtig: die Kamele sehen gut aus, werden freundlich behandelt haben Pausen zwischen den Touren (in denen sie liegen und wiederkommen, sich also entspannen). Schön wäre eingrößeres Versorgungsangebot vor Ort (wenige Getränke, Eisautomat kaputt). Empfehlenswert!!!

Sehr schöner Ausflug.Nur etwas nervig das man erst anstehen muss für eine Uhrzeit an der man dann dran ist.Schade das man die Uhrzeit nicht online buchen kann.Anspnsten ein schöner Ausflug.Meine Tochter hatte sehr viel Spaß.

Excellent experience from start to finish. The staff at the Camel Dunes are very good and really well organised. The camel ride was about 30 mins, they appeared well cared for and different groups of camels were taken out for different groups. Photographs are taken along the route with an opportunity to purchase at the end. No hard sell ,view on screen and if happy you can buy your photo for €5. We are a family of 3 with our 17 yr old teenager. We all enjoyed the experience.

Brilliant experience and the staff was great. It was very cute that all camels had different names and they actually addressed like that, the staff was lovely, very attentive towards us and towards the camels. Also it was very considerate to have a shaded spot for customers to wait for the ride. I would 1000% recommend it

It's slow and not worth this tour with trained poor dromedals (not camel's) It should be a crime to forse them to do this. So for them who haven't seen camel's/ dromedals. Take a picture.

The guide on the camel ride were friendly and helpful. We asked if we could book a time slot when booking the experience but were told to just turn up so we were disappointed when we were told there would be a 2.5hr wait when we arrived at the camels. It would have been better to be able to book with young children as we were not equipped to wait that long and have a child with extra needs.

Alles super geregeld. Maar het welzijn van de dieren was niet oke. Kamelen zaten vol wondes door ijzere muilkorven die ingekerft waren in hun neusje/mond/gezicht. Heel zielig om naar te kijken.

Kamelskötarna upplevde vi som omtänksamma och trevliga om både kameler och vi som som red. Dom klappade om sina kameler och hjälpte oss att ta bilder och knyta om repet som var lite för löst.

De TUI dame die ons heeft geholpen in het hotel was alles behalve wat we verwacht hadden. Ze zag er onverzorgd uit (vette haren die er ongekamd uitzagen), zat constant op haar kauwgom te knauwen, kwam ongeduldig over en had wel mogen zeggen dat we een taxi terug hadden moeten regelen. Nu stonden we na de Kamelen rit midden op de dag verloren te kijken en moesten echt een flink eind lopen voordat we een taxi konden aanhouden. Ook de info over andere dingen was ronduit slecht/klopte niet. Slecht

Lovely fun experience for all ages. We were told we could turn up at any time. Got there and told we had a wait time of more than an hour. Be better if you were given timed tickets. But it was an enjoyable experience. Camels seemed to be well looked after, they were very well behaved.
