Poor

2/5 – Poor value for money Driver Clinton was excellent… friendly and informative. However the tour was advertised as 8 hours but lasted ~4. Early gift shop stop felt sales-driven, waiver signed mid-tour felt uncomfortable, and inclusions (especially lunch) were unclear. Food at Scotchies was poor and extra charges felt unnecessary. Overall overpriced for what was delivered.

Poor

The trip has no structure at all. Driver just goes on without any explanation as to where you are or where you are going. After one is taken from the hotel, you are thrown into a little souvenir shop with guides disappearing and leaving tourists there for 90 minutes alone where you are forced to purchase something from very pushy staff. Second destination is a restaurant where food is served in paper cups without cutlery and you must pay to use the toilet. I got very bad flu from the driver

Poor

Not worth the money. Supposed all day (?) tour we left the hotel at ten o’clock and was back at twelve twenty after a lunch of chicken and rice. As far as a culture tour we were driven around town and then the house estate on the hill with good houses on one side and shantytown shacks on the other.

Excellent

Absolutely loved this trip, we got so much out of it, our guide Wendy was brilliant, very informative, answered any of our questions and got us local fruit. Museum was really good, the school trip was so insightful and the kids amazing. Nothing was to much trouble and we would definitely do it again especially just for Wendy.

Excellent

We thoroughly enjoyed the 6 hours with Wendy, from driving around different neighbourhoods of Montego Bay, visiting the small museum in the centre, popping into a church, which told its own story of life in Jamaica for the plantation owners of the 18th and 19th centuries, to an enchanting time with 4 to 6 year old in their classrooms.

Positive: gave me easy access to places I would not have visited or seen Negative: prior info differed from actual tour. Paperwork said full day. It was NOT Guide- driver was reluctant to volunteer info, looked like did not want to be there, looked miserable all the time ( including lunch!), obviously could not wait to finish and go home Overall, not worth the money I spent on that booking

Great

Wendy our guide picked us up promptly at the start time. The tour was just under 4 hours not the 8 quoted. It was very much a private tour, just the 2 of us. We were in an air conditioned car for most of the tour other than the visits to, the Church, the basic school and Tracks and Records. Unfortunately the traffic in Sam Sharpe Square was too busy to safely get out. No issues with mobility. Driving around the various estates seeing the affluent and poor areas so close was eye opening.

Great

Our driver was great. We had problems with the itinerary: School - school was closed for summer holiday - no alternative arranged. Church – no-one available to give us a tour of the church. Great house – no tour guide, we were told that she had left (fired) recently. We didn't get into house or the tour!! - DISAPPOINTED!!! An alternative, eg Rose Hall, could have been substituted. Lunch - this was included in the itinerary but as the tour was only a short tour, not sure why lunch was needed.

Great

The tour was very good. The driver was very informative and interesting. The guide at Bellefield was superb. The downside - we didn't get a drink apart from a small shot of rum at Bellefield from when we were picked up at 10am until gone 2pm. Lunch was terrible. There was a choice of two dishes - jerk or jerk, and a choice of two drinks. The food took nearly an hour to arrive. We were about to leave. Despite a complaint to the rep and a promise of compensation nothing has been received.

Visit to church 5 to 10 mins about church history then nothing?left to sit and and wonder what was next ,nothing. Visit to school was highlight of the trip. Lunch was awful after waiting 45 mins for some chicken bones and skin, any flesh was dry and very spiced, choice was ridiculous, better forgetting lunch and drop us off back at hotel!, Guide had plenty to say, mostly about her opinions, and muttered away to herself?

Great

Being a private tour allowed us to have longer at the places of interest, gaining a better understanding of Jamaican life and culture and the guides could respond to our questions. Donna in particular has a wealth of knowledge which she shared with us. Wendy, our driver, made our trip fun with stories of places where she grew up.

Great

Trip was great. Very informative staff. Wendy our guide very nice and informative. Kept us informed as to what we were doing. Please bear in mind, you don’t do all visits, eg visit to a school if closed during Summer. Would have been nice to have been offered an alternative choice. Donna was very helpful at Bellefield House. Time did not seem an issue. Had a nice meal at Usain Bolt restaurant in town and time to go shopping. Good value private trip for the 2 of us!

Excellent

This was possible the best trip we had ever been on. Many thanks to Wendy, our driver and tour guide for the day. Special thanks to Donna from the Bellefield Great House estate for a fascinating tour of the great House and an insight into its colonial history. Last but not least thanks to the principal teacher of the James Rodlyn basic school for children aged 3 to 5 for allowing us to spend time meeting all of the amazing pupils at the school. A truly uplifting experience and a great day.
