Get back to nature at the renowned Butterfly Valley nature reserve, before a visit to the completely unspoilt and sleepy island of Chalki. "The appeal of Chalki is its laid-back vibe," says Maria, one of our expert local guides. "Most families here still know every boat in the harbour - island life doesn't get much simpler than this.”Journey to Rhodes's fertile interior in the morning, headed to the ecological sanctuary that is Butterfly Valley. Walk under the canopy of the forest, alongside waterfalls and ponds rich in wildlife. From mid-June to mid-September this is home to hundreds of thousands of Callimorpha butterflies, attracted by the resin of its storax trees. They make for quite the spectacle. “Most visitors know Rhodes for its beaches, but the island's heart is green, cool and surprisingly wild,” adds Maria.Afterwards, it's back to the coast where you'll board your boat to Chalki. This sleepy island has pretty houses scattered around the harbour where small fishing boats are moored. Take a walk around and enjoy this idyllic getaway and get a feel for traditional Greek island living. There'll also be time for a refreshing afternoon swim in Chalki's clear waters.

Vi upplevde att det var för mycket transport för en så kort utflykt. Ön var fantastisk men bussen, båten och stoppet på fjärilsparken var för långtråkigt. Vi hade sett fram emot en lugn vistelse på ön.

It was nice to get out of the hotel however the day started at 07:00 and didnt end till about 19:00. If we had known it would be 12 hours plus we wouldnt have bothered. The butterfly thing was out of season so was just a walk in the woods whilst Chalki Island had some charms there was next to nothing to do as it was end of season.

Butterfly Valley war super schön. Da wir am 1. Oktober dort waren, haben wir leider nicht mehr so viele Schmetterlinge gesehen. Dafür haben wir andere Tiere gesehen. Der Weg durch den Wald war Mega schön. Nur leider war die Zeit viel zu kurz um den ganzen Weg zu gehen und die Natur genießen zu können. Dafür war die Zeit auf der Insel Chalki etwas lang. War schön zu sehen. Die Bootsfahrt war ganz schön heftig. Im großen und ganzen war der Ausflug super.

Great to get picked-up from outside our hotel. More accurate times would be helpful. No rep on pickup coach, so consider providing written info about practicalities. The day was far longer than advertised - you said can be over nine hours, but it was over 12 hours and we nearly missed dinner we were back so late, and there were more guests to drop-off after us. Appreciated Tui discount in some Chalki tavernas.

Enjoyed the visit. But not much interaction with guide and left to explore on your own. Having two places to visit on one day is far too long. Not enough time at Butterfly Valley and far to long at Chalki before heading back. Maybe on excursion details extending hours of excursions as stating around 8-9 hours for trip. It was like 12 hours between pickup between hotels and getting to destinations for the trip all round.

Reis prima ophalen en thuisbrengen ook. Boottrip was voor vele reden tot zeeziekte,jammer dat we in de boot zaten en slechts enkelen op dek konden zitten,er was onderweg dus moeilijk wat te zien,jammer.eiland bezoek mooi en prima. Weinig butterflies gezien,maar einde vlinderseizoen dus geen ramp. Begeleiding van trip door ene David was ronduit slecht,deed geen enkele moeite tot interactie met zijn gasten,minimale mededelingen die overigens in zeer slecht onverstaanbaar Engels tot ons kwamen.

Leider ist Ende September keine Schmetterlingszeit mehr, daher waren sehr wenige Schmetterlinge zu sehen. Die Aufenthaltsdauer von 5 Stunden ist auf der Insel Chalki zu lange. Das Wasser ist dort wirklich sehr klar, wie angeboten, leider ist es kein Traumstrand und es gibt nur Sonnenschirme und Liegen zu einer Tagesgebühr von 15€ und abduschen kostet nochmal extra.

It was a great trip allowing you to see two areas of interest in one day. I like that at both the butterfly valley and when arriving at the island you could occupy your time how you wanted. We were given some information about chalki island whilst on the coach and the guide directed us to the beach we wanted on arrival which was good. But it would have been nice to have an option to follow a guided tour at the butterfly valley, or to have more information from the guide at Chalki.

It would have been improved if our bus had also had a guide on it to give a little more information about Rhodes, Chalki and the places we passed whilst travelling on the bus as it was quite a long journey. Otherwise the places we visited were lovely. Driver was good.

Not enough time to see the butterfly’s we got to the top and had to turn straight around too much time on the island by 4pm most people where at the port ready to leave it would have been good to have an opportunity to stay in a hotel on the island and return the next day

Leuke dagtocht in het algemeen. Butterfly vallei een mooie omgeving, maar eind september nog weinig vlinders. Leuke boottrip naar een zeer schattig eiland, waar je heerlijk kunt eten en lekker zwemmen

Der var en guide der kom ind i vores bus med et skilt med et klokkeslæt “der skal i være tilbage”. Sommerfugledalen skal man selv betale. Sejlturen virket overhovedet ikke sikker på nogen måde. Turen var for lang, fra vi blev hentet til vi var på hotellet igen gik der 14 timer. Måske man skulle dele turen op så det var én tur til sommerfugle dalen og én tur til Halki?!

We were told which part of boat to sit in for return journey as the boat was filled to capacity. I got too hot where we had to sit in the ground floor lounge area, and fell ill as a result. Such a shame after a wonderful time on Chalki island.

Het was leuk maar er mag wel meer verteld worden over de toegankelijkheid bij Butterfly Valley. All die trappen omhoog. Als mensen niet goed ter been zijn, is dat niet te doen. Verder mooie omgeving en Chalki eiland was ook mooi.

1 heure à la vallée des papillons ce n'est pas beaucoup et ça mange du temps à passer sur l'île de Chalki. Il voudrait mieux juste proposer Chalki seulement et faire une autre excursions Vallée des papillons et autre chose mais rester bien 3h à la vallée des papillons.

Rep needs to confirm that the entrance fee for butterfly valley is not included when booking and this is not suitable for those with walking difficulties or have young children. Chalki was stunning. States "guided tour" but "guided" needs to be removed

Alles war wunderbar, beim Preis habe später gesehen das bei der App Tui der günstigere Preis angeboten werde was ich nicht richtig finde den die Tui Beraterin hat mir geraten über sie zu buchen das es nicht das gleiche Unternehmer wäre, der Preis aber der gleiche was nicht stimmt . Das finde ich nich korrekt.

Der Ausflug war genau wie beschrieben. Was uns besonders gut gefallen hat, dass die Mitarbeiterin auch deutsch gesprochen hat. Was uns nicht so gut gefiel, die Überfahrt mit der Fähre. Der Bereich wo man draußen sitzen konnte war viel zu klein, daher gab es einiges an Gedrängel. Schade.

Zu teuer für Bus und Boots fahrt. bei vier Mann hätte Mann sich ein eigenes Boot Charten können. Eintritt Schmetterlingspark im Preis nicht dabei Essen auf der Insel sehr Teuer. Das Schiff Roch überall streng nach Abgase. wir hatten trotzdem Spaß

Der Ausflug war insgesamt sehr interessant, man hätte während der Fahrt noch gerne Informationen über die Insel gehabt. Die Rückfahrt über 3 Stunden war eine einzige Zumutung! Insgesamt hat der Ausflug 13,5 Stunden gedauert; das ist eindeutig zu lang!!

Enjoyed Halki. Need more time at butterfly valley, suggest should be separate trip. The transfer from boat arriving back at Rhodes to drop off point was horrendously long, nearly 3 hours. Total time away was almost 14 hours, whereas the trip details said 9 hours. Should have only taken about 1 hour from boat to Lindos, but we had to go down west coast on small winding roads all the way to Plimmeri. Not acceptable, Too long on a bus with no toilet. Would not recommend unless they take direct rout

Hey was een mooie trip. De vlindervallei was mooi. Steeds dieper de vallei in, waren er steeds meer vlinders te zien. Erg mooi. De dame van Tui gaf overal duidelijk een verhaal bij. Chalki eiland is ook prachtig! En het water daar kraak helder. Heerlijk gezwommen. Het enige minpuntje was de rijstijl van de bus chauffeur. Hij reed veel in het midden van de weg. Reed dan weer hard en dan weer kort op zijn voorganger. Het was roekeloos. Maar de gids deed het fantastisch. De moeite waard.

The transport arrived 30 minutes late, butterfly valley was lovely but not given enough time to see it all. Chalki was nice . The main issue was the trip was sold as a 9 hour trip. We were, from pick up to drop off away for 14.5 hours. It was only by the grace of the hotel restaurant manager that they allowed us to eat late. Although we ate at 1pm, we were then stuck on the ferry or coach forv8 hours with no toilet or food facilities. I am a crohns disease sufferer and was in alot of pain.

Der Busfahrer war gleich zu Anfang 30 Minuten verspätet. Er hat sich weder entschuldigt noch erklärt. Zum Ausgleich ist er gerast. Auch auf dem Rückweg, sobald die TUI Mitarbeiterin ausgestiegen ist, ist er gerast. Mir wurde schlecht. Der einfache öffentliche Fährverkehr wurde geschönt als Bootsfahrt deklariert. Die TUI Mitarbeiterin bräuchte ein Mikrophon Training. Sie war schwer zu verstehen. Sie achtete bei Abfahrten nicht darauf, dass wieder alle an Bord waren. Keine Nachfragen an Mitteisen

Es handelt sich hierbei um einen reinen Transfer von A nach B. Von einem Bootsausflug im klassischen Sinne kann nicht die Rede sein – es war lediglich eine Überfahrt nach Chalki. Für Reisende mit empfindlichem Magen ist diese Tour weniger geeignet, wer mit Bus- und Bootsfahrten gut zurechtkommt, kann sie jedoch in Betracht ziehen.

Nous avons commencé par la vallée des papillons qui était très jolie, apaisante mais sportive. Ensuite nous avons fait l’île de Chalki alors incroyable, magnifique avec des maisons colorées et typiques Nous avons pu nous baigné dans une eau paradisiaque on en a pris pleins les yeux Nous conseillons cette excursion à 100%

Gut das im Schmetterlingstal nur eine Sorte Schmetterlinge sind hätte man vorher lesen können, also selber schuld, wenn man eine Vielzahl erwartet hat. Aber für die Bootsfahrt nach Chakli entstand vorher der Eindruck, dass das Baden vom Boot aus erfolgt plus Besuch der Insel. Für einen Besuch des dortigen Badestrandes hätten wir den Ausflug nicht gebucht, da wir dadurch die Gegend nicht wirklich besser kennen lernen. Weiter war in der Beschreibung die Rede von acht Stunden und nicht zwölf

Pünktlich abgeholt, wir mussten dann den Eintritt selbst zahlen im Tal, das hatte man uns leider nicht bei der Buchung gesagt. 1 Stunde Zeit ist sehr knapp, wir haben nicht alles gesehen, toller Park. Fähre von 1994, marode, extrem voll, keine Klima. Auf Chalki Info wo bekommt man Rabatte, dann auf sich gestellt. Strand Ftenagia ok zum Schnorcheln, bei Buchung: "Insel noch nicht touristisch" - quatsch - überall Touripreise! Insgesamt trotz letzt zugestiegen und zuerst ausgestiegen (Bus) 11Stund.

Der Ausflug ist für ältere Menschen nicht zu empfehlen da zu viele Treppen im Park Butterfly. Die Zeit ist zu kurz um viel zu sehen und dafür Selbstzahler. Dies hätte mir beim buchen gesagt werden sollen obwohl ich nach gefragt hatte ob der Park beschwerlich zu Fuß ist. Die Dauer des Ausfluges war zu lang dies wurde auch nicht erwähnt. Abholung 08.40 wieder im Hotel um 20.00 fast zu spät um noch etwas zu essen. Das Boot zur Insel total überfüllt Gäste mussten sogar stehen. Klares Nein ????

Gefallen hat uns, dass der Bus uns pünktlich abgeholt hat und die Reisebetreuerin sich Zeit genommen hat, uns die Wege auf der Insel Chalki zu erklären. Nicht so gut gefallen hat uns, dass wir von TUI erst die Info erhalten haben bei Butterfly Valley noch 6€/Person Eintritt zahlen zu müssen. Außerdem wäre es schön, wenn Getränke käuflich im Bus zu erwerben wäre.

Die Locations waren mega. Aber der Transfer wurde dann aus zwei Bussen in einen gestopft, 6 € Eintritt pro Person ins Schmetterlings Tal, Aufenthalt 2 Stunden. Danach alle wieder in den Bus und zur Fähre nach Chalki, das Schiff wurde bis unters Dach gefüllt mit Touristen, leider eine Massenabfertigung. Aufenthalt Chalki ca 4 Stunden. Abfahrt 17:30 von Chalki. 50 Minuten Fahrzeit und danach alle wieder in den Bus, der Transfer dauerte eine gefühlte Ewigkeit. Wie gesagt Locations sehr sehenswert

Das Schmetterlingstal war sehr schön, aber der Aufenthalt zu kurz, weil wir nur einen Teil besichtigen konnten. die Fahrt nach Chalki und der Aufenthalt dort waren sehr schön. Es war genügend Zeit für individuelle Unternehmungen vorhanden. Ein Highlight war die Badebucht mit sehr schönem Strand. Leider wurde die vorgegebene Rückkehr Zeit nicht eingehalten. Wir waren erst um 20:15 Uhr im Hotel, so dass für das Abendessen wenig Zeit blieb.

It’s a wonderful trip but be warned, you are in chalki for 5hrs so not too good if ur not going to enjoy the beach because not a lot more to do there apart from food and a wee bit shopping. Butterfly valley is amazing tho and a nice wee boat trip. Overall, this is a lovely experience and worth seeing how nice chalki is.

Te lang in de bus gezeten ( alles bij elkaar iets meer dan 4,5 uur reistijd, boottrip inbegrepen). Slechts 1 uur tijd om de vlindervallei te bezoeken wat veel te kort is. 2 x 50 minuten op een boot zitten (die zijn beste tijd heeft gehad) op een harde vloer want de boot zat overvol. Mensen moesten maar zien waar ze zich konden neerzetten of blijven rechtstaan. Gids hebben we op heel de dag mss 15 minuten gezien, bij het opstappen en afstappen van de bus. Das voor ons geen gids.

Felt we had been missing sold this trip by our rep Sandra. Loved the butterfly experience but were not told at the time of booking and paying that the entrance was an extra charge! Also had to rush back to get the bus, could do with another 30 mins there to not need to rush through. No time to get a drink after walking. The boat we got to the island was a horrible experience, not enough seats, people pushing and shoving to get on and off really hated it

Enjoyed arriving early at butterfly valley. The transfers to Chalki was a little hectic. Overall we had a great time but due to being last drop off at hotel we didn’t arrive back until 8 pm. It was too long a journey. Would recommend leaving Chalki by 430 to make the whole trip better.

Trajet un peu long mais qui en vaut la peine. La vallée des papillons est très belle et le tarif est très abordable. Pour l'île de Chalki on a adoré, elle est magnifique. L'eau est transparente et **********. Nous étions sur une plage ou l'on pouvait marcher dans l'eau sur plusieurs dizaines de mètres.

le point négatif est d'avoir eu un guide anglais alors que les 3/4 du bus était français. heureusement une dame s'est portée pour traduire. la liberté de la visite libre à la vallée des papillons et ensuite le temps libre sur l'île de Chalki avec aucune obligation de déjeuner.

De rit met de bus is wel iets te lang vond ik. De vlindervallei was heel mooi ik heb mooie foto’s kunnen nemen van de vlinders??Na de vallei zijn wij tijdig vertrokken naar de zeehaven om naar Chalki eiland te gaan, wij hadden ruim de tijd om het eiland te verkennen. Zeker de moeite waard.

-Très déçue car je devais avoir un guide francophone et j'ai eu un guide anglophone !!! Pourtant nous étions plusieurs personnes (francophones) du Doreta Beach ce jour là. Je n'ai donc pas pu bénéficier des explications de la guide ! Autant faire l'excursion par mes propres moyens ça m'aurait coûté moins cher !!! -Bon moment à la Vallée des papillons. -Un après-midi sur l'île de Chalky c'est trop court pour déjeuner, visiter ( j'aurais aimé me promener jusqu'au château) et se baigner.

Schmetterlingstal - 1 Sorte von Schmetterlingen, die nur geschlafen haben. Es wurde uns geadgr, dass es mehrere Arten von Schmetterlingen gibt - ausserdem eintritt nicht im Preis dabei - wurde nicht gesagt bei Buchung Überladene Fähre- mussten am Boden sitzen, weil es der Reiseleiter nicht zusammengebracht hatte, dass er den Leuten sagt, sie sollen doch bitte das Gepäck am Boden stellen damit Leute sich hinsetzen können. Reisedauer waren fast 12 Stunden- auf der Bestätigung stand 8 Stunden

De vlindervalley was mooi en interessant. De gids was ondermaats, heeft enkel wat uitleg gegeven in de Bud en na de boottrip heeft ze juist nog gezegd, waar de Tui restauranten waren. Daarna haar niet meer gezien van de ganse trip.

Leuke uitstap, mooie natuur en charmant vissersdorpje gezien in Chalki. Wat zeeziek op de boot, het is ook een erg boot en zat overvol, we hadden geen mogelijkheid om boven op het dek te zitten, wat we super zouden gevonden hebben. In de vlindervallei zaten ook grote wespen, die de bezoekers lastig vielen en bleven achtervolgen.

Der gesamte Ausflug war chaotisch.. es hieß beim buchen im Hotel von der tui mitarbeiterin 8 Stunden dann waren es knapp 12h!!!!!!?? das schiff mega überfüllt musste teilweise am boden gesessen werden. Automat für getränke defekt bei der hinfahrt auf chalki. Das schlimmste nach butterfly valley hieß es wir können nicht mit aufs schiff zu wenig plätze. Angeblich hatten wir nur 1 sitzplatz waren aber zu dritt und hatten bezahlt. NIE WIEDER! Einzig positive die Bemühungen von Grace!!

Good day trip. The tour did the Butterfly Valley first in the morning, which was great for us, as we wanted to spend more time on Chalki island. The crossing is about 40 mins, and is quite busy - we all managed to get a seat but not together. The island is beautiful and we stopped to have lunch in one of the places on the harbour (and not expensive at all). Then headed over to the sandy beach, which is about a 10-15 mins walk, with a few shops along the way. Plenty of time to relax.

Ik vind het een mooie combinatie, eerst naar die butterfly valley en dan naar het eiland, is een perfecte leuke dag. We werden goed geholpen en alles verliep soepel. Het was duidelijk aangegeven waar en wanneer we ergens moesten zijn. Ook kon je makkelijk terecht voor vragen en werd er veel informatie verteld over waar we op dat moment waren. Op het eiland bijvoorbeeld werd er info gegeven over wel strand en waar je leuk kon eten.

Nous étions que des français à l excursion on nous mets un guide anglais. A la réservation il aurait dû préciser que sur île ce n étais pas que du plat beaucoup de montée. Et surtout à la vallée des papillons préciser qu il y avait des marches à monter. Je suis une personnes PMR qui marche avec bequille donc pas abordable du tout.
