Loggerhead sea turtles have been residents of Zante's beaches for thousands of years, and with a bit of luck, you'll see them first-hand on this boat trip. Join an expert local guide for an educational day out at sea, passing by nesting sites, swimming in hidden bays and spending time in the village of Keri. Bianca, one of our guides, says, ‘In just one trip, you get to jump into clear waters, cruise along the Keri peninsula and, with luck, see turtles.'Available either in the morning from Zante harbour or the afternoon from Keri harbour, this half-day cruise is a real treat for all the family. You'll pass by the golden beaches of Vassilikos and Marathonisi, a pine-clad islet dubbed ‘Turtle Island'. The reason's simple – one of its beaches is a favourite turtle nesting site. Bianca, who's lived on Zante for more than 20 years, says of the scenery, ‘You can do this tour a thousand times and every day is different.' Be sure to keep a lookout for Loggerheads, and you may even spot a wild dolphin or two.Plus, you'll sail along the Keri peninsula, cruising by its sea-plunging cliffs, caves and lighthouse before dropping anchor for a swim stop at the Bay of Oasis. In the small village of Keri, you have a quick stop to shop for souvenirs, relax in a typical taverna or hit the beach. What's more, a volunteer from local conservation group ARCHELON – the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece – will be on board to give you the lowdown on its work. I beskrivelsen lyder det som om at man kommer til at stoppe, for at hoppe af på en eller to øer, det gør man ikke, hvilket var lidt skuffende. Især når de siger at hvis vi ser en lille skildpadde, så skal vi tage fat i nogen af tui medarbejderne. Hvor skulle vi se babyskilpadder på vej ud til vandet, hvis ikke på et stop ved en ø??

Tui rep was not overly friendly but was more with what we felt her own nationality group. Felt like she wasn't there at all. I approached a different rep and she was helpful and cheery. There was alot rude people on this cruise. The snack bar people were lovely, snacks available was really good and good prices. Although they tried, we did not see any turtles. We were also not given alot of time on Keri island. A quick toilet stop and a rush to return coach bus. Disappointing.

We hebben genoten van de boottocht. Schildpadden hebben we uiteraard niet gezien. Dat is begrijpelijk gezien ze al in september (soms in augustus) vertrekken naar warmere oorden. Het zou fijn zijn om dit expliciet vantevoren te vertellen.

Der Trip war gut organisiert, pünktliche Abholung, guter Chauffeur mit angepasstem Fahrstil. Die eigentliche Tour mit dem grossen Boot war sehr gut, einddrucksvoll, abwechslungsreich und entsprach meinen Erwartungen und auch den Ankündigungen im Angebot. Ganz gar nicht gefallen hat mir die Begegnung mit den Turtles: Innert 2-3 Minuten waren knapp 10 Boote auf engstem Raum um die zwei () Turtles, Massentourismus pur, no go und sicher nicht angenehm für die Turtles, die ich selbst nicht sah!

The boat has more space on it. Snack bar was friendly but had little variety. The toilets had no seats which was the worst thing. That invited people not to sit but hang and they get very dirty and wet. Not expensive items for owners and I think essentials in ladies toilets

The whole experience was a waste of time and money. Why take people on such a cruise, when there are no turtles to be seen because of the weather and time of year. Other operators were offering a similar cruise much cheaper and some even included landing on the island. There were no floatation devices on offer for non swimmers. This cruise was very long and boring. I could have stayed at home and gone away on a ferry to from Dover to Calais!!!

Matkan alku oli hyvä ja maisemat tosi hienot. Siirryttäessä kilpikonnia etsimään tunnelma lyssähti ja oppaan ääntä ei kaiuttimista välillä kuullut, koska laivan moottorit pitivät aika kovaa ääntä. Loppu siirtyminen viineiseen uinti paikkaan ja sieltä satamaan oli myös tylsistyttävän pitkä, koska mitään ei sinä aikana tapahtunut. Wc tilat laivassa eivät olleet kovinkaan siistit. Miehistö halusi tippiä lopussa vaikka eivät mitään sen eteen tehneet joten ei annettu tippiä.

Couldn't hear commentary, too quiet. Boat was bit big and crowded. Sat on plastic seat in gangway. Did not see any turtles at all. The swim stops were in low visibility water and not interesting. The swim stops on the half day cruise to shipwreck beach and blue caves were much better. On our TUI trip to Mexico, buoyancy aids were used, whilst in the sea.

Eén schilpad werd zo opgejaagd door zo veel boten om haar te zien. Ik schaamde mij er voor, dat ik daarbij zat. De uitleg van de vrijwilligers was erg interessant. We hebben alleen maar heen en weer gevaren.

Great trip but shame we were 19th Sept and at the end of the hatchling season so saw no turtles. The two Turtle Protection volunteers aboard however gave us well off information about the turtles. The boat was a good size and well equipped. Would recommend

Neither of us could understand the commentary on board the boat. The itinerary we received stated that at the end of the tour we would disembark in Keri and have time to shop and dine before returning to our hotel. When we questioned why this did not happen we were informed that is the itinerary for the morning trip and that the afternoon trip disembarks at Zante. stopped for swimming twice, we were not interested in, maybe one stop for swimming and one stop for sightseeing would be better

Nice boat trip able to see parts of the island not accessible baby any other means. Obviously it was known it was the wrong time of year to witness the turtles. So many boats around the bay not really surprised that they weren’t seen. A lot of oil in the water which wouldn’t be good for the turtles habitat and the natural ecosystem Not sure about the swim stops maybe just one needed

Bus was late, left waiting in car park on return for almost 30 mind. Not acceptable. German speaking Tui rep, only seemed interested in communicating with her fellow people and not the limited number of English passengers. Should be advertised as a boat cruise with a very small chance of seeing a turtle as we were told by the experts that most had now left the area after laying their eggs.

From the bus trip across the island to the trip on the boat it was fun .We didn't get to see turtles but we saw the caves and flying fish ,the crew were friendly and my husband ( this is Mrs Sealey answer ing the questions) had the most fun swimming in the sea ...he has always been as mad as a barn pot lol ?? . We loved every minute and I liked a bit of rock and roll on the water makes life more interesting ?? so in short we loved it .

De vaartocht langs de kust is heel mooi. Twee momenten om te zwemmen is lekker. De uitleg van de vrijwilligers van de schildpaddenbeschermingsgroep was helder. Op zo'n grote driedeks boot is het bijna niet te doen om schildpadden te spotten en goed te zien. De dagen ervoor zijn wij vanuit de haven in Agios Sostis in kleine bootjes gaan spotten en dat was twee keer raak. In de uitleg staat vrije tijd in het leuke plaatsje Keri en die hebben we niet gehad. De gids was schor en slecht te verstaan.

Der Transfer hat gut geklappt. Schildkröten haben wir keine gesehen, was mich auch nicht wundert bei den vielen Booten. Nach dem schwimmen waren auf meinem Handybag überal Ölflecken, schlecht für die Umwelt, ärgerlich für mich. 15 Minuten Aufenthalt auf der Kerihalbinsel reichen nicht einmal um etwas zu essen.

Viel zu viele Boote fahren in dieser Gegend herum. Kein Wunder, dass man kaum Schildkröten sieht. Und dann wird einem was vom Schutz der Schildkröten erzählt. Sogar auf Turtle Island selbst waren massig Leute. Die Schwimmplätze waren zu weit draußen, kaum geeignet zum Schnorcheln.

No air conditioning on the pick up coach , was dropped off at location for boat just left thier for 40 mins waiting for our guide to show us what boat or where we was going ! Absolutely zero communication from the driver , everybody stood around not knowing what was going off ! Rep arrived finally and lead us to boat and asked us to line up like children,those that did line up had to wait longer to get on the boat! The boat trip itself was great , no turtle sl seen tho , 2 swim stops

Wir haben uns für die Nachmittagstour entschieden. Wurden um 11.15 abgeholt und waren um 17.40 im Hafen von Zakynthos. Die Fahrt mit dem Boot hat um ca. 13.15 in Keri begonnen. An Bord gibt Essen und Getränke. Zweimal wurde ein Badestop eingelegt. Es wurde geankert. Alles in allem ein schöner Tag. Kann man auf jeden Fall empfehlen.

It was a shame there was no pool noodles or life jackets for the children to get in the ocean on the two swim stops provided. All the staff were really good and the Turtle talk was a highlight. Unfortunately the actual Turtles didn't materialize but that's nature for you. The cruise was still a lovely experience and the weather, perfect. The coach to and from the venue was roomy and well air conditioned. Thanks for a great experience

The trip was a big disappointment! Health and safety was non existent. No safety gear available for the swimmers. No loo seats on the toilets and the floors were flooded. And the boat had far too many people on board so where we were sat we couldn’t see anything. The boat was pumping out some nasty fumes. We were surprised that TUI are part of this experience. We have travelled far and wide with TUI and this was the worst. Sort it out!!

Tui-guiden på hotellet beskrev turen annorlunda så jag blev förvånad när det var ett annat upplägg med båtrutten än vi trodde. På båten var det ingen information om att vi inte fick simma in till stranden vid badstoppen. Ett badstopp var det väldigt tråkig havsbotten, bara dött vass så tråkig snorkling. Vi hade fått information innan att båten skulle stanna och avsluta turen vid Laganbukten men nu så fick vi åka buss tillbaka till Lagana. Vi trodde också att vi skulle gå iland på Turtle Isand.

Frivilligen fra naturvernorganisasjonen holdt en veldig fin presentasjo. Guiden snakket godt engelsk, men hun satt bare på øvre dekk. Båten er svært dårlig vedlikeholdt. Det luktet bensin fra motoren hele turen, ankeret kunne ikke manøvreres uten å bli slått hardt med en hammer. Det som var veldig negativt var at de ikke hadde redningsvester. Mannskapet svarte at de bare hadde to barnevester. Det var flere barn på båten! Vi var ikke i land for å se Keri.

Reine Bootsfahrt mit 2 Schwimmstops, viel zu viele Menschen, das Boot ist sehr groß, so dass man nicht sehr nah an die Höhlen und Inseln fahren konnte, kein TUI Guide vor Ort, wir hatten keine freie Zeit in Keri obwohl dies in der Beschreibung deklariert ist

Wycieczka FANTASTYCZNA!! Piekne krajobrazy, duzo czasu spedzonego na statku (malo w autokarze). Wspaniale bylo podziwiac rózne odcienie wody, skaly, roslinnosc. Organizacja perfekcyjna. Guide hat man kaum verstanden (leises Mikro, viele Störgeräusche) zu viele Besucher am Boot, dadurch war teilweise die Sicht eingeschränkt (zB als wir die Schildkröte gesehen haben, musste man sich für eine Sicht sehr durchquetschen)

Jammer dat we geen schildpad hebben gezien maar de kapitein heeft zijn best gedaan. Het lunchpakket dat we mee kregen stelde echt niks voor. Plaatje cake en 1 heel klein broodje en een appel. Fijne Nederlandse gids, aardige vrouw.

No turtles was seen on the trip customers should be aware that the sea can be a bit choppy and you should be a strong swimmer to do these trips if you want to get off the boat

Geen vrije tijd in Keri, zoals aangegeven in de omschrijving. Hierdoor ongeveer 4 1/2 uur aan boord geweest, met 2 zwemstops van elk een half uur. Ook geen vuurtoren gezien. Transfer was prima geregeld. Eten en drinken kon je aan boord kopen. Helaas geen schildpadden gezien.

Jeg synes selve turen var godt og afslappende. Det jeg synes var mindre godt, er at båden var stor som gjorde at vi ********** ikke fik mulighed for at se skildpadde svømme ordentligt pga de små både spærrede synet for os så vi ikke kunne rigtig se noget. Vi blev snydt for det. Næste gang burde i overveje mindre både så folk bedre får mulighed for at se skildpadde svømme.

Dear TUI Customer Service, I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment and serious concerns regarding the excursion Turtle Cruise of Marathonisi Island and Keri Peninsula. Unfortunately, this turned out to be the worst organized and most disappointing excursion I have ever experienced.I have documented our experience in detail, as I believe it is important that you are aware of the issues and the risks to both your reputation and your guests. Thought it rather boring, total 1hr 10 min swim breaks too much. Thought TUI guide abrupt and rude. Too many people on boat, felt unsafe and squeezed in. Guide said at start most of the turtles had already left the area, if so why is it being advertised as a turtle tour?

Vi var på en heldagstur til blue caves og shipwrek beach som var nedtur og reiste på denne i håp om at den skulle være bedre, men tvert i mot. Badestedene kunne ikke vært verre med grumsete vann og kjedelige omgivelser, guiden starter med å fortelle oss at hekkesesongen er over for skilpaddene (vi hadde blitt lokket inn fra TUI guide på hotellet om at det var høysesong for klekking). Guiden påstående snakket dårlig engelsk og forklarte veldig rotete. UTROLIG skuffet og lite verdi for pengene

A really old boat that smelled strongly of gasoline in every corner. The swimming stops were pointless – the first one was literally right next to the harbor full of oil or gasoline stains. The transfer from the hotel was dangerous, we almost crashed into an oncoming car. It feels like a typical tourist trap. Never again.

Reading reviews I almost didn’t book the trip but I’m so glad I did. The boat was clean, had shade and life jackets were available, snack bar was great. The island was so beautiful from the sea and the description from guide was great. The turtle information was good and we were able to adopt a turtle on board! We saw a turtle and it was an amazing trip. Transfers were easy and we had a great time

Retki oli hieman liian pitkä. Luolat ihastuttavat ja maisemat kauniit. Kilpikonnia emme nähneet mutta saimme kuulla niistä ja niiden suojelusta. Toisen uintitauon jälkeen oli vähän tylsää ja halusimme jo laivalta pois. Bussi oli myöhässä ennen retkeä ja hukassa retken jälkeen. Laura-opas oli mukava ja selkeäsanainen.

Absolutnie nie polecam tej wycieczki. Wycieczka byla obiecywana jako atrakcja z polska super doswiadczona przewodniczka która duzo wie o wyspie i zólwiach. Zamiast tego bylismy spedzeni na wielka lódz gdzie po angielsku byla prezentacja o zóliwach ( bardzo ciekawa) ale dzieci nie byly w stanie nic z tego wyniesc. Zólw byl jeden. Ale czulam sie jak na polowaniu. Te wycieczki powinny byc calkowicie zakazane. Ogólnie drogo, nudno i nieciekawie

Absolut IKKE pengene værd. Blev sat af i Keri med besked om, at vi blive afhentet af en TUI-guide. Intet skete og utilfredsheden spredte sig blandt gæsterne. Først efter en time kom en person og oplyste, hvad der så skulle ske. Denne forsinkelse betød så meget lidt tid med sightseeing i Keri halvøen. På bådturen fortsatte det manglende informationsniveau. Et par stop med ligegyldige badestop, og meget kort tid med “søgen” efter skildpadder betød en meget skuffende oplevelse. Kan ikke anbefales

If you weee expecting to see turtles you’d be disappointed, if you just expect a boat trip with a couple of swim sessions then it’s amazing. Beautiful views and the staff are very knowledgeable and caring, I’d recommend this trip for learning about turtles an the coast line.

Het was een leuke boottocht. We hebben helaas geen schildpadden gezien maar daar kan je ook niet vanuit gaan. De zwemstops waren kort en er was geen voorziening van snorkel.

There was only 15 minutes in Keri to shop/relax/sunbathe. We didn't see any turtles which was quite disappointing- however appreciate it does say in the itinerary if we are lucky. The boat felt quite over crowded and more shaded areas would have been nice.

Two stops for swimming. One in an isolated spot offshore. The other in an area where speedboats were all around us, causing swell making it difficult for weak swimmers. One stop was even in a cove where people were snorkelling!! But we weren’t allowed to get off to join them. We saw beautiful beaches ( not allowed to go near them) needed binoculars. Landed in the town, not enough time to even do a bit of shopping. IMO it was a waste of a days holiday. Never again.
