Alessio, uno de nuestros expertos guías locales, nos cuenta: "El 24 de agosto del año 79 d.C., el Vesubio reventó y cubrió Pompeya de ceniza y piedra pómez. Los relatos de la época dicen que el volcán llevaba varios días dando señales de una erupción inminente y, afortunadamente, mucha gente ya había evacuado la zona".Debido a que Pompeya permaneció enterrada en cenizas durante tantos siglos, todavía se pueden ver las notables ruinas de templos, villas y calles, aparentemente congeladas en el tiempo. Se trata de un vasto yacimiento arqueológico en el que aún hoy se hacen nuevos descubrimientos. Alessio añade: "Pompeya es un yacimiento que evoluciona mes a mes. Incluso para un guía como yo, a menudo hay algo nuevo que descubrir a medida que se abren o excavan nuevas partes del yacimiento".Tras un almuerzo ligero, subiremos al Vesubio. En cuanto a la montaña ardiente en sí, es tan famosa como el Krakatoa: es el único volcán activo de Europa continental, aunque la última erupción se produjo en 1944. Como puedes imaginar, las vistas desde la cima sobre la bahía de Nápoles y la ciudad son fenomenales. Alessio afirma: "Cerca del Vesubio viven unas 600.000 personas, yo incluido. Puede parecer un lugar arriesgado para vivir, pero, por la seguridad de todos, el volcán está constantemente vigilado".

No se puede entrar en Pompeya con bolsas de más de 30x30x15.
Hay un guardarropa gratuito donde puede dejar sus pertenencias.
El primer domingo de cada mes, la entrada a los yacimientos arqueológicos es gratuita (ya se ha descontado del precio en la fecha correspondiente).
Los grupos para la visita al yacimiento arqueológico serán de un máximo de 35 personas, pero el transporte podrá realizarse en autocares con capacidad para más pasajeros.
En caso de que el acceso al cráter no sea posible debido a condiciones meteorológicas adversas, los clientes recibirán un reembolso equivalente al precio de la entrada.
El precio oficial de la entrada a Pompeya es de 20 euros para los adultos, con una tarifa reducida de 2 euros para los ciudadanos de la UE de entre 18 y 25 años. La entrada es gratuita para los menores de 18 años, los visitantes con discapacidad (más un acompañante) y todos los visitantes el primer domingo de cada mes. La entrada al Monte Vesubio cuesta 11,68 euros para los adultos y 9,55 euros con tarifa reducida. La diferencia de precio refleja el valor añadido y los servicios exclusivos incluidos en esta experiencia

Coach arrived 40 mins late to collect us from our hotel, took another hour to pick up other passengers from other hotels, we only spent a very rushed 90 mins at Pompeii, paid full price for the TUI experience for our 15 year old even though he's admission to Pompeii should have been free as he is under 18. Lunch was poor, the Vesuvius part was a great experience, the guide was also very good, knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend booking this through a local tour company in town.

Tour great, lunch not so. Arrived at restaurant & were all thirsty. 2 bottles of wine on the table, offered water & the children cold soft drinks. My wife and I are teetotal, & asked to swap the wine to a soft drink each. They said no “due to the contract with Tui, adults would only receive wine”. This is ridiculous & excludes people who do not drink alcohol for religious, health & cultural reasons & was not mentioned on the tour description. Had to buy soft drinks & felt very unhappy about it.

Allemaal goed geregeld, als je het op je eentje zou doen, kost het veel meer tijd en moeite dus het is gewoon gemakkelijk. De uitleg in Pompeï is ook heel interessant en tof, anders loop je er ook maar rond. Wij hadden een keigoede en gepassioneerde gids Vincenzo. Het lokale middageten was ook echt een meerwaarde

Vincenzo our guide was brilliant, he spoke with such knowledge and enthusiasm about Pompeii and Vesuvius, he was engaging and a pleasure to listen to. We would have liked slightly longer in Pompeii as there is so much to see, but it was incredibly hot the day we went so probably couldn’t have managed much longer!

The venues were interesting, guides wrecking very knowledgeable. Lunch was very basic, thought a child had prepared it. I tried to speak to the driver twice about somethings, but he just loudly talked over me. I guess he listens with his mouth?

The visit to Pompeii was highly interesting and my wife noticed a huge expansion of new sites since she was last there before we were married. Our guide was knowledgeable but spoke rather fast. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed the luncheon break. Vesuvius was less enjoyable as many of us older folk found the climb very steep and talking with those who did make the top made us glad we had not overextended ourselves in the extreme heat. The view overall was better from our hotel. Value still good tho

The guide was brilliant, very informative tour and well organised. The lunch was delicious. Mt Versus is hot, dry and baron, the walk is steep and facilities at the entrance are dire, but that's not the fault of the tour and they advised us before we left the restaurant to use the toilet there first. A long day but worth it, we would never have learned so much about Pompeii if not for the tour.

pompei was zeer mooi om te ontdekken ,maar de vesuvius was een kleine ontgoocheling omdat je z'on lastige inspanning moet leveren te voet naar de top om dan eigenlijk gewoon een put in een berg te zien en waar je niets kunt afleiden dat dit een vulkaan is

The tour guides were polite, friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable. The lunch was a little disappointing, my wife doesn't like pasta, as there were no alternatives she couldn't eat anything and we were offered only a small amount to drink. The waiters weren't friendly and seemed offended that we ask for more drink, even after offering to pay. Maybe you can offer a menu when booking the tour.Otherwise we enjoyed the tour of pompeii and the walk up mount Vesuvius

Our guide was amazing, the tour itself didn’t feel rushed and she was a delight. Doing the tour in middle of July had its challenges especially the hike up Vesuvius with places for water always charging alongside use of toilets it’s definitely one to plan ahead. The lunch provided was a small amount but enough to keep you going, plus with extra history around the restaurant it was a nice pit stop along the way.

Very overpriced for what we saw. Basically paid for convenience of transportation. We did not see much of Pompeii, too much time standing in full sun listening to our guide, whom we struggled to hear through the earpieces. Really wished we had gone to Pompeii on the train ourselves. Lunch was lovely although served in a restaurant with no a/c or fans - unbearably hot! Vesuvius was majestic!

Our guide had great knowledge of the area and history, and the day was just right for giving us a taste of Pompeii. Lunch on the slopes of Vesuvius was great, giving us the perfect energy boost needed to complete the following climb to the crater. Would have liked to spend a little more time in Pompeii, but appreciate to take in everything there would take days, not hours.

Very well organised. Our guide Cinthia was fantastic, very knowledgeable. Pompeii is huge so having a tour guide was crucial, we learnt so much that we wouldn’t have known without one. It was a large group, but we were split into 2 smaller groups for pompei the guide was very informative. The Lunch was probably one of the best I've ever had on a trip and the staff helpfull given I have a fussy eater in.my party. The views were spectacular up top of Vesuvius.

Overall a very good day- we expected a lot of queuing but guide managed to navigate through. Remains a very interesting experience and worth seeing Only let down was the “let’s stop off at my friends lemoncello shop on the way back” I thought this naked sales approach had been phased out years ok - Sadly not.

The trip was a once in a lifetime experience and pleased we booked with TUI as well organised and value for money. The guide was very knowledgeable and made the experience more enjoyable and relaxing. We did both but if we had to choose one, I would forgo Pompeii for Herculaneum. Herculaneum is smaller, less busy and better preserved. Very hard work walking up Vesuvius in 34C but well worth it!

Our tour guide Lilian was not only very knowledgeable but witty too. Both Pompeii and Vesuvius were spectacular, memories we shall treasure for ever. The hike up to the top of Vesuvius was well worth doing for the amazing views. We had a lovely lunch and the waiter at the restaurant was second to none, he was very friendly and welcoming. Last but not least a massive thumbs up for the driver Mario, how he managed to manoeuvre the 41 seater bus around the bends amazes me. An incredible day

het zou mooi zijn als de mensen voor de deur van het hotel zouden kunnen afgehaald worden en terug ge bracht aan hotel presiedent voor mij was het niet erg maar sommige mensen hadden er moeite mee ik kan het jullie alleen maar doorgegeven en de gids was heel goed en gaf overal goede uit leg en was heel vriendelijk ze heeft zeker een pluim verdient vinden wij dan voor de rest zijn wij tevreden over de excursie

After a late start Cynthia and Mario more than made up for the delay. Cynthia was very knowledgeable and funny as was Mario. The lunch stop was great ,good food and attentive staff. The little visit to the lemon shop was also a highlight. A great day out all round.

Cynthia our guide was fabulous! One of the best guides we have ever had. Her energy & knowledge made the trip! Even after a rocky start with some delays on pick ups she kept spirits high. Her knowledge of pompeii was great. If you want to see lots of pompeii this isnt the tour for you as there is not enough time to see it all. The walk up vesivius in the heat was tough, and glad were wore suitable footwear. The lunch stop was delicious! Biggest downside was the long pick up/drop off route :(

The whole thing was fantastic great experience and Dana was very informative the whole way Lunch was good but i felt the waiter's didn't want to be there never spoke once Pompeii was breathtaking so much restoration work the scale mind blowing Vesuvius was a hike but worth it when you get up there overall well worth it

She never panicked and I heard her at every stage trying to get our quite large group )33) in places such as the brothel. Pompeii was fabulous. Livich after exceeded expectations and Vesuvius great. Would have liked more time at pompeii, being in a big group of 33 we felt very rushed and missed so much. Couldn't keep up with the guide!! Don't think mount vesuvius was explained properly ie: how steep it was and it was very rocky and gritty under foot. Hence we never made the top and so the experience was lost!!!

Our guide Lilly really knew her stuff and guided us round Pompeii really well which was very impressive since it was so busy. Pick up was on time and we were given clear instructions as to times allowed etc. Lilly was really friendly and funny. Not mich time for the gift shop after Pompeii but that was the only slight negative. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.

An absolutely fantastic day. Our guide was superb, he held our attention with all of his knowledge about Pompeii during our tour. The headphone was really useful. Lunch was enjoyable, followed by a short stop for drink tasting, which was fun. We had a great walk to the top of Vesuvius which rewarded us with wonderful views. Well worth doing the trip to Pompeii. The queues to get in are horrendous but don’t be put off, once you’re in, it’s massive and thoroughly enjoyable.
The hike up Vesuvius is challenging and gives the heart and lungs a good workout.
Our guide Lily was excellent and I would recommend this trip.

Our tour guide the lovely Lili from Leeds was absolutely amazing. We were thoroughly looked after and she gave us a brilliant tour of Pompeii she really knew her stuff. We couldn't have asked for a better guide. The driver Mario was brilliant too he managed all those bendy, hilly roads with ease and made sure we were all safe. As we had done so much walking at Pompeii in the heat we were unable to manage to get to the top of Vesuvius but for a couple of oldies we managed to get part way up.

Guide Lilly was excellent, knowledgable, engaged everyone and paced the whole day well. Lunch was quite disappointing, basic and crowded into the restaurant.

Our guides Lily for the whole trip and Anna for Pompei were very informative and helpful lunch was a little basic and haphazard and queue for toilets was not so good my only complaint if it is a complaint is that trying to climb mount vesuvius straight after lunch is not really the best idea could it not be done the other way round maybe?

Lily and Anna were fantastic tour guides. I had stupidly forgotten to bring cash thinking card transactions would be fine and not expecting to have to pay for public conveniences. Lily offered to buy me a drink at Vesuvius and assured me it wasn't an issue that I could not leave a tip for the driver and her.....The only thing I found to be negative about the Pompei Tour was that it was very rushed. This however was not the fault of Anna or Lily bit a logistical issue that can be considered.

We had an amazing day, lilly was very friendly and lovely. We split into a different group at Pompeii and had Oniker as our guide who was incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly too . We thought lunch was great We would definitely recommend this day excursion .

We enjoyed having the radio headset as this helped to hear most of the information We would have liked at least half an hour more to climb up and come back down Mount Vescuvius. As a vegan the lunch was ok but more salad would have helped make lunch better. There really needs to be a vegan dessert, like simple vegan sponge cake. Not fruit for the dessert though as fruit is best eaten after a meal.

Guides were excellent , both were informative knowledgable and used humour . The lunch included was also excellent , the family restaurant we were taken too provided a lovely welcome and great home made food using their produce from their farm . A great day out . A particular thank you to Roberto our driver and Lilly our head guide for a great day out .

I'd like to start with the good. The visit to Vesuvius was great, we were given enough time to explore all the way up with some time to spare for a quick toilet break and refreshments. Our driver Antonio was excellent, comfortable and safe. Also was very helpful in our time in need when we lost our tour guide. Our Pompeii visit was a nightmare as we lost our guide (Dana Guilla) straightaway when we climbed the first steps within the entry point, the square. We then were left to our own.

Our guide (Desiree??) was fantastic!!! Friendly, welcoming, organised and incredibly lnowledgable. She really made the day a memorable and enjoyable experience. We were the first hotel pick up and then we had a few more pick ups to do which seemed to take a while and then unfortunately the traffic was very slow. However, this wasn't anyone's fault and Desiree made sure that we were the first drop off at the end of the day which was nice. Lunch was excellent.

Our tour guide Dana was very informative about the area of Sorrento on the drive to Pompeii, great tour around Pompeii and a very interesting/informative trip. The lunch before Vesuvius delicious just what you need before the walk up. Once you get to Vesuvius you are able to walk to the crater at your own leisurely pace. It’s a long day but well worth it. Take some good walking shoes as the streets in Pompeii are cobble stone and for walking up Vesuvius you’ll definitely need a shoe with a grip!

Guide was great, very knowledgeable and entertaining, also sort feedback and welcomed questions. We were shown enough in Pompei without getting too tired. The walk up Versuvius was perhaps a bit more challenging than we were lead to believe!. But it was worth the effort. Overall it was a great day and we have some great memories.

After multiple pick ups we only had 1.5hrs with Pompeii with no free time to explore areas that we had not seen. Tour guides English was poor and we choose not to listen to him as it was so painful.
