Tucked up near the mountainous Bulgarian border lies Lake Kerikini – a vast area of marshland that's a haven for rare plants, birds and wildlife. Going where coaches can't, you'll travel by both boat and off-road vehicle to explore all the hidden corners of Greece's premier national park. And after adventures on both water and land, there's a well-earned lunch of local favourites to enjoy.It all starts in a traditional boat called a ‘plaves', to glide along the water and admire the idyllic natural scenery. Lake Kerikini is the premier birding site in Greece, so coming to a complete stop, you'll hear the sounds of over a thousand birds around you.Afterwards, well-equipped off-roaders will take you to places around the lake where you'll realise what 4X4s are needed for. Powering through mud-puddles, you'll follow no particular road as you zig-zag through the park. Back at base, a well-deserved lunch is served, washed down with a few drinks to end the day.

Excellent
Fabulous opportunity to see a place which would otherwise be difficult to get to. Journey to Kerkini 3 hrs long, but not unpleasant, as there was a welcome breakfast stop (included in the price). Boat and 4x4 jeep rides were fun. Getting so close to the birds, and especially the buffalo, was an experience to remember. Appreciated a wonderful array of salad and hot Greek specialties for lunch in the taverna. A drink included, which made a welcome change. Will treaure the photos I took of it all.

Von der Abholung vom Hotel bis wir abends im Hotel waren, alles super organisiert. Einziger negativer Punkt, dass der Guide nur wenig deutsch gesprochen hat. Aber was positiv war, dass er sich absolut bemüht hat. Alles in allem ein schönes Erlebnis.

Value for money is only a 4 because the lunch was so good. This trip was not worth the 3hr transfer each way from tui blue lagoon palace. We were not told the transfer would stop in a sketchy lay by to transfer onto a larger coach. The transfer back was then a taxi after an argument with driver over logistics. The lake was lovely, the 4x4 was a glorified country road trip however ended with some lovely buffalo. Would not recommend

Unser Tour-Guide hatte praktisch keine Funktion. Auf der sehr langen Busfahrt herrschte quasi Stillschweigen, keinerlei Informationen über Land und Leute. ganz anders unser Fahrer auf der Jeep-Tour zu den Wasserbüffeln. Er hatte viel zu erzählen, sehr informativ und lustig. Die Boots-Tour zu Pelikanen und Flamingos war gut, die Beobachtung aber nur per Fernglas möglich. Das abschließende Mittagessen war hervorragend!

Tolles Erlebnis sowohl mit dem Boot als auch mit dem Jeep. Pelikane, Flamingos und Wasserbüffel von Nahem gesehen und beobachten können. Sehr leckeres und vielfältiges Essen im Anschluss. Guide und Mitarbeiter sehr herzlich und zuvorkommend. Diesen Ausflug kann ich auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen!

Too much travelling to and from nearly 3hrs each way. Not very friendly or informative driver. Felt very uneasy on transfer there as coach driver seems very tired and irritable and hardly ever had 2 hands on steering wheel. Constantly biting his nails, picking his nose and rubbing his head and eyes. Kept veering over road lanes and looked like he was constantly trying to keep himself from falling asleep. Made to feel very anxious and unsafe.

Nur 2 Pelikane aus der Nähe, Kormorane und Wasserbüffel gesehen ! Essen war gut. Reiseleiter war schlecht, wenig Informationen und nur in Englisch, obwohl die meisten Gäste deutschsprachig waren ! Den Ausflug würde ich nicht noch einmal machen !

Die Tour war als deutsch angekündigt. Leider war die Reiseleitung und auch drei der vier Jeeps und das Boot nur Englisch. Für uns kein Problem, aber wenn ausgeschrieben, sollte auch deutsch erklärt werden.

Jezioro piekne. Przewodnik mówil o tysiacach gatunków ptaków na jeziorze a zobaczylismy raptem kilka. 4x4 nudne. Oprócz mulów i jednego orla nie bylo na co popatrzec. Bardzo dobry obiad i przewodnik.

Die Fahrt hat uns gut gefallen, nur schade dass nicht viel im Bus zu der Umgebung gesagt wurde. Die Fahrt auf dem See war sehr schön auch das Essen war gut.

Overall very nice experience. Good information from tour guide. During drive to Kerkini there were enough stops for wc and short break for coffee. At location also all prepared so everyone could enjoy the experience. On way back also all was good. Small note The touringcar bus nr 103 had Some difficulty with the airconditioning. Drive to Kerkini temperature was oké but unfortunately the way back the temperature was uncomfortably high. Maybe it is good to mention there is Wi-Fi and usb on bus

The boat trip 4by4 all good. The bus journey far too long. Would not have gone if I had known. 3.5 hours there and 3 hours back. Way too long. Meal afterwards very disappointing so portion control it was embarrassing to eat anything as we were with strangers at the table. Glass of wine came after the meal. A bit too late by then. Should have been served first.totally unnecvesary to be tight with chips and salad..

Disappointing- long trip from hotel which wasn't made clear. Jeep safari- have done these before & always loved them. This was disappointing - our driver didn't speak English, we were told we would stop at points & get info from other drivers- we stopped once & not really any info. More like a drive round a farmers field in tall bamboo- nothing to see! Boat trip -told to get on English speaking boat but driver spoke very little English & not many bird species to be seen. Nice scenery & lunch

Die Fahrt mit dem Jeep war super, das Essen ausgezeichnet, schade nur das wir am See mit unserem Boot so weit weg vom Ufer entfernt gefahren sind das wir von den Vögeln fast nichts gesehen haben andere Boote sind näher rann gefahren. Die Bootsfahrt hätte länger dauern können damit man auch wirklich etwas sehen kann, ansonsten war es ein sehr toller Ausflug.

Pros: Lake Kerkini is beautiful with the mountains behind it. The food at Taverna was delicious. Cons: The 4x4 was basically a drive along a rutted farmers track. The driver spoke no English. The boat ride was ok and we saw several birds tho again the driver of the boat spoke no English.

Die Jeep Safari ist sehr schön..aber in den Autos zu eng. Man sitzt zu hoch um richtig aus dem Fenster gucken zu können und es zu genießen

Gut geführte Tour durch den Kerkini See inklusive einer Offroad Tour mit den Jeeps. Wundervolle Atmosphäre in entspannter Atmosphäre auf dem Boot und der Vogelbeobachtung verbunden mit Action in den Land Rovern auf den abgelegenen Straßen und Büffelbesichtigung. Anfahrtsweg von zweieinhalb Stunden hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt! Empfang mit Kaffe/Saft/Kuchen und Abschluss mit reichlichem Essen aus der Region.

The trip on the lake was fantastic, and the food was good but the jeep safari was just being bounced around for over an hour with very little commentary about what you could see. Only buffalo we saw were been herded away by a pick up truck

Very good trip. Staff were very good, but an English speaking guide on the boat would have made a it more enjoyable. The food was excellent, but there was to much of it. On the advert for the trip it said binoculars provided, but on our trip they were not.

Good - great opportunity to see the wildlife on the water and the 4 x 4 drive was fun. Bad - transfer from our hotel was far too long tl het there, nearly 3 hours with small children. I would say this would be a good trip for kids 10+ only.

The lake experience was the best part of the tour. Seeing all those birds close up was magnificent. The safari part was not so exciting as we just drove along tracks. Seeing the buffalo in the fields was the best part. The lunch at the end of the tour was excellent

We gingen varen en zagen pelikanen lepelaars scholeksters zwaluws de vogels op het meer We gingen 4x4 dat viel beetje tegen was meer over een boerenerf rijden dan over rotsen en door bossen maar was wel leuk om ook mee te maken We hebben de buffels gezien Verder werd er vrij weinig verteld over de plantensoorten maar dat kan ook wezen omdat de verbinding van de radio’s onderling niet goed was wat erg jammer was waardoor we de hele weg geen uitleg hoorden De lunch was echt perfect Complimenten!!

Der Reiseleiter war nicht gut organisiert, Fachlich wusste er kaum etwas zu sagen. Hatte er diese Tour zuvor jemals begleitet ? Wir hatten das Glück die Reiseleiterin Gaby von MTS dabei zu haben, sie hatte privat diese Tour gebucht. Mit ihr zusammen haben wir diesen Ausflug sehr genossen. Die Verpflegung vor Ort in der Taverne war gut und auch die Jeep Safari war ein Erlebnis. Anreisezeit war wegen der vielen Hotelstopps viel zu lang. Hotelgäste kamen unpünktlich! Insgesamt 14 Std ab Anthemus

Sowohl die Boots- als auch die Jeepsafari haben viel Spaß gemacht und waren ein nettes Abenteuer. Allerdings muss man sich darüber im Klaren sein, daß die Anfahrt zum See übee 2 Stunden dauert, bis alle Teilnehmer bei den verschiedenen Hotels abgeholt sind. Essen nach der Tour vielfältig
