The Neue Nationalgalerie houses 20th century paintings and sculptures from classical modernism to the art of the 1960s. Opened in 1968, the museum was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and is considered an icon of classical modernism. From August 2021 the museum is after a four-year project of refurbishment and modernization again open to the public.The collection of the Neue Nationalgalerie brings together an array of 20th-century art-masterpieces by various artists from Europe and North America, such as Ferdinand Hodler, Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Max Beckmann, Otto Dix, Paul Klee, Max Ernst, Salvador Dalí, Francis Bacon, Ernst Wilhelm Nay, Werner Tübke, Gerhard Richter and Andy Warhol.Among the Neue Nationalgalerie’s most famous and iconic works are 'Potsdamer Platz' by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, 'The Skat Players' by Otto Dix, and 'Who’s Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue IV' by Barnett Newman.

Know in advance:
The standard ticket only grants admission to the permanent exhibitions - Zerreißprobe and Gerhard Richter - and does not include temporary exhibitions
The reduced rate applies to students, those engaged in national or community service, unemployed persons claiming "ALG I" job-seekers’ allowance, and severely disabled persons (with at least 50% reduction in earning capacity), on presentation of the appropriate identification. Please visit the museum website for further details
After booking, you will receive your tickets to the museum. You can show them from your smartphone. Please make sure to have the tickets saved on your smartphone before entering the museum. There is no internet connection in the museum building, and you won’t have access to your tickets if they are not saved beforehand
Opening times: Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm; on Thursdays till 8.00 pm. Closed on Mondays

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und uns zugewand. Uns fehlte das Besondere in der Ausstellung und der Hinweis, das nach dem Untergeschoss das Erdgeschoss folgt. Wir sind nach dem UG auf dem gleichen Weg zurück nach draußen gelangt ohne das EG gesehen zu haben. Das Gebäude ist Klasse!

Leider konnte die Sonderausstellung am Ende im Eingangsbereich erst begangen werden, nachdem wir erneut die Garderobe abgegeben haben. Ein Hinweis vorab wäre hilfreich gewesen.

Ein außergewöhnliches Erlebnis ist Monica Bonvicinis „I do you“. Ganz grosses Kompliment für den Mut zur Realisierung. Grosses Kompliment für die Ausstellung zur Geschichte der Nationalgalerie.

Sicher haben wir Verständnis für alle Sicherheitsmaßnahmen, damit einzigartige Kunst erhalten bleibt. Aber beim Verlassen der Ausstellung rauskomplimentiert zu werden, weil wir im Foyer bereits unserer Jacken anhatten (Garderobe im UG) und somit die Installationen im Eingangsbereich nicht anschaue

Mit der verspiegelten Installation von Monica Bonvicini wirkt das Gebäude im Inneren noch beeindruckender als es eh schon ist. Noch nach Tagen denke ich immer wieder an meinen Besuch in der Neuen Nationalgalerie. Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis.
