An ancient seaside settlement on the Black Sea, Sozopol is a fascinating place to explore. First, you'll join a boat cruise into Sozopol Bay. Back on land, tour the cobbled streets of the old quarter, then enjoy a lunch of local favourites in a restaurant. Next, it's time to visit Ravadinovo Castle – Bulgaria's very own fairytale palace. Ivaylo, one of our local guides, says, ‘The castle was built with Strandzha Mountains marble, which contains micro-diamonds. These appear to change colour depending on the time of day, so the castle looks pink in the morning, white in the daytime and at night it seems to glow.'Arriving in Sozopol, we'll hop on board a boat to take a cruise around the island of St Ivan, the biggest in Bulgaria. Disembark for a guided walk around Sozopol's pretty cobbled streets flanked with traditional wooden houses. You'll hear about the town's past as a thriving outpost of ancient Greece, followed by Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman rule. Today, Sozopol serves up old-world charm, two fine beaches and lots of cafés, boutiques and galleries.After your guided tour, tuck into a typical local lunch at a family-owned restaurant, then enjoy some free time to shop or explore. Finally, you'll head inland for a visit to Ravadinovo Castle – an award-winning attraction packed with spires, towers and marble statues. Wandering palatial grounds and colourful gardens, you can head to the petting zoo for little ones or take in the views over the man-made lake.

Couldn’t fault the guide, he was excellent, very knowledgeable and kept us entertained. The boat trip was pointless. The boat people were miserable, they made no attempt to interact with us. They were unable to offer full hot drinks menu. Either the guide or boat people should point out things of interest. Like I said guide fantastic and kept us engaged on the walk round sozopol. Meal provided was tasty Castle visit disappointing. Have concerns for welfare of animals kept and shown.

Bootstour hätten wir uns mehr davon erwartet, Boot war zudem ungepflegt. Altstadt und Mittagessen topp. Schloss total crazy aber sehenswert allerdings privat würden wir den Eintritt nicht zahlen.

Thought the trip was good value, bit of a long day, 9.5 hours, but enjoyable. Some people have commented on reviews that the boat trip was unnecessary but it is part of the trip, if you don't want to go on it, don't buy this excursion. It goes out around the bay for an hour, and is something different. The castle is very different, a modern build based on fairytales, again not something you would normally see, we didn't get the impression the small animal area was neglected. Sozopol is nice.

Przewodniczka miala ogromna wiedze i chetnie sie na dzielila. Mówila swietnie po polsku. Zwiedzane miejsca byly interesujace. Posilek w restauracji byl pyszny, na plus równiez widok na morze podczas jedzenia. Rejs lodzia móglby trwac nieco dluzej. Na negatywna ocene wycieczki wplywa glównie to, ze autokar w droge powrotna odjechal przed czasem zbiórki i przewodniczka nie zauwazyla, ze nie ma mnie na pokladzie. I was very disappointed with the Sozopol tour this year. I went on the tour in 2024 with my daughter and it was so much better. Firstly we went to the castle with only 1 hour to take it all in. Then the boat tour without any commentary. Then Sozopol guided tour followed by an atrocious lunch at The Windmill. Free time after lunch was 1.5 hours but shops were shut for siesta. 2024 trip was boat trip/commentary, guided tour, wine tasting and lovely lunch then castle last for 2 hours.

The TUI guide was incredible,very knowledgable and passionate about Bulgaria.My only criticism would be that on the boat .l would have liked someone to have relayed information on the mussel beds and maybe told us about the fish caught in the Black Sea .

The castle was excellent but not enough time to enjoy. No time to walk all around or have a coffee or take everything in. Boat trip was unnecessary. A complete waste of time. The money spent for the boat should be used for better food. Restaurant was appalling. Food was awful, best thing was the salad. Soup totally bland and a stew with a knife and fork. Waiters rude. However Sozopol is beautiful. Needs more time to explore, to be able to shop and sightsee. Guide was knowledgeable.

Alles in Allem ein Erlebnis Das Märchenschloß und die Seerundfahrt sind super. Auch der kulinarische Zwischenstop ist mit seiner schönen Aussicht nicht schlecht. Die Altstadt selbst ist aber hat man vergleichbar Nessebar gesehen, nicht so wirklich das Ausflugsziel. Riccardo

Sozopol was a beautiful place and we enjoyed walking around on the guided tour very much. The lunch was lovely in a great restaurant with a exceptional view. Visit to the castle was very interesting and a great place for photos. On the negative side the bus was a terrible experience as our seats were broken, due to a full bus we couldn't exchange them and because the seat was so layed back it has caused me back pain ever since the trip.

The castle is magical, the grounds of the castle beautiful like a fairytale, a lot of attention to detail. The boat trip refreshing. The guide informative the bus tour and around sozopol. The tour guide was very informative from pickup to returning back. The boat trip was good however information in regards the three Islands would have been welcome. The lunch was excellent and a delightful change for the usual chip meals. The time spent to explore Sozopol alone was way too long an hour would have been suffice. The Palace was an experience let down by being unable to actually explore the inside of the Palace

Die Stadtführung in Sosopol war sehr umfassend und interessant. Genauso die Besichtigung des Schlosses. Die Bootsfahrt war sehr eintönig, man ging auf das Boot, fuhr eine Stunde im Kreis und stieg wieder aus, ohne irgendwelche Erklärungen.

The whole experience was great, especially our guide who was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned a little about Bulgaria and it’s history in general and also about Sozopol, Bourgas and surrounding areas. The food at the Windmill was delicious. It was a good day out thanks to our guide.

Loved all three experiences. Grounds of the castle were enjoyable to walk through. The boat trip was great for taking photos of the scenery and Sozopol was breathtaking to see. The food at the restaurant was excellent. The female tour guide on the coach and the male tour guide at Sozopol were outstanding as I temporarily lost my phone and they did all they could to help.

Przewodnik fantastyczny! Organizacja tez super. Troche za duzo reklamowania lokalnych sprzedawców, co bylo meczace po któryms takim stoisku. Nice enough trip to get out of sunny beach. Varied activities and lovely food. The castle was very random and different but a money trap and very expensive and you have to pay extras to go in and do the museum. Boat trip was nice and relaxing and Sozopol was nice not much to do in the free time but lovely to wonder independently.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The boat trip was enjoyable and tour of Sozopol Town was very good. The meal at the Windmill Restaurant was a bit bland and I felt rushed by the servers but that it probably because of the number of parties that eat there. The castle was great.. The Tui description of the trip isnt accurate at all. The caste was small, poorly maintained with poor animal conditions. The boat trip was a just loop out of the port ant back. There as no guide information on the sites and there was no comunication that the boat was cash only. The town and the tour its self was amazing, the tour guide was very knowledgeable.

Schöne Stadt über welche wir gern mehr erfahren hätten. Urlauber waren zu 90 Prozent englisch Sprechende, dadurch wurden die meisten Informationen nicht ins deutsche übersetzt. Dolmetscherin war bestrebt, in der Stadt ihre persönlichen Geschäfte anbieten, bei welchen wir Produkte kaufen sollten. Schlechtes Deutsch sprach sie ebenfalls. Touristenabzocke

Die Tour war gut. Wir waren eine gemischte Gruppe (deutsch, englisch, französisch), daher war es sehr anstrengend den Worten von Irina zu folgen, da ihr Kollege für die englischsprachigen Teilnehmer, parallel ins Mikro gesprochen hat. Das Essen war ok. Schade, das man keinen Meerblick hatte, das hätte, nach dem Essen, sicherlich noch für Umsatz gesorgt. Ab und zu hat die Tour an eine Verkaufsveranstaltung erinnert. Sozopol ein kleines schönes Örtchen. Old Nessebar gefällt uns besser.

Sozopol is nice, the boat trip nice (but with no explanation what we were seeing), Ravadinovo castle is quirky I guess. The reason though for the low score was the non-stop talking on the coach by our guides. We had an English guide talk (often with irrelevant facts), followed by a Polish guide, and then back to him, constantly whilst driving. There was no pauses or respite the entire journey out. Love facts and info, but non-stop talking for over an hour was just excessive. Shame.

Overall a great tour and good value for money. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us an interesting update throughout the tour. The boat trip was a lovely way to start the tour after the coach transfer. Walking tour was set at a steady pace with stops on the way for information about the lovely old town. Restaurant location was amazing, and the food was great. Castle not to my liking but my friend really enjoyed the quirky surroundings. A great trip well executed, thank you ??.

This trip was great, lots to see in beautiful Sozopol and the castle was amazing, lunch was also great with stunning views. Our tour guide on the bus was great, she had lots of knowledge and was very friendly. The walking tour guide was ok but would have preferred to have more time to explore on our own.

Bardzo nie podobala nam sie opieka przewodnika. Vladyslaw -to juz starszy czlowiek który nie nadaje sie juz na takie wycieczki. The trip was good, the guide and the food all good. Unfortunately the castle had some very mistreated animals which ruined it for us at the end of the day. We cannot believe Tui would support a tourist attraction that allowed such animal cruelty. There were 3 badly treated dogs, one chained up with no access to shade or water, 1 with filthy matted fur & an untreated sore on its nose. All in tiny cages. Dead fish in the filthy pond & a sad parrot with year old water. Disgraceful -Tui take action!

Its was extremely bad weather with heavy rain and there was no guided tour of the town due to the rain , the castle trip was cut short because it was raining you abd the trip was shortened by an hour. No refund or partial refund was given even though we didn't get the full tour. The food included was cold and not to our tastes. It was set menu but it doesn't say this in the trip when booking

W trakcie rejsu padalo,takze nic nie widzielismy.Ten czas przewodniczka mogla wykorzystac na opowiadanie nam o Bulgarii. Wycieczka do zamku i rejs lodzia to niezapomniane chwile. Przewodnik Pani Geri swietna, polecam serdecznie. Evo was a really knowledgeable and friendly guide. The meal was delicious with a lovely sea view. I went to Sozopol beach which was lovely and St John’s chapel is beautiful. The only thing which I can think would have been good was some information during the boat trip.

Pani przewodnik bardzo sie starala , jednakze trzeba bylo mocno sie skupic, zeby zrozumiec co mówi. Rejs statkiem, obiad - bez zastrzezen. Zamek kiczowaty, nie polecam. Sozopol piekny, ale jakos malo mi bylo tego spaceru z przewodnikiem.

My teenagers are difficult to please and a full day trip away from the pool is hard to get them to agree to or enjoy but we all thoroughly enjoyed this! There was so much to see and do. A very hot day but the town was wonderful and our guides very knowledgeable, time to wander with your own group, lunch that was provided was brilliant and the castle was truly the most magnificent place. It was way more than we expected and well worth the price for our group of 4.

Fantastyczna wycieczka. Zamek nas urzekl. Sozopol to piekne miasto warte zobaczenia. Pyszny obiad w restauracji w zapierajacym dech widokiem. Przewodnik co rusz czestowal nas róznymi ciekawostkami. Serdecznie polecam.

Ivo our tour guide was brilliant and so knowledgeable, even on the journey to Sozopol he talked through the things we could see on the journey and also gave us key information about each stage. Good variety in experiences of the day and good value for money. I would say an improvement would be to allocate seating on the coaches so groups that book together are guaranteed to sit together, especially on busier days.

Busturen var hyggelig. Besøg på slottet var fint; men lidt skuffende man ikke kan komme indenfor. Sejlturen var en dejlig afveksling. Guidet tur i Sozopol var meget kedeligt, især for børn. Frokosten var et virkelig lækkert sted, men vi synes virkelig maden var virkelig ringe. Vi spiste faktisk næsten intet af det. Drikkevarer udover varm vand koster. Gåtur på egen hånd i Sozopol var super. Rigtig fin by. Men jeg synes TUI skal foreslå man tager badetøj med, for stranden er helt enormt lækker.

Ich habe so einen Eindruck dass, ihr Chat und sie nicht zusammen arbeiten. Im Chat ist immer die Name von meiner Tochter genannt, die überhaupt nicht hier ist, aber das Geld für die Reise ist von ihre Konto abgebucht. Und mir wurde liebe mit einem Mitarbeiter von Ihnen telefonisch kommunizieren. Ich bin nicht die jungste. Und sonst die Reise läuft ganz gut. Danke

Castle was much better than expected and a real highlight. The restaurant meal was exceptional. Peter the guide was very helpful and informative. Could have spent more time at the castle. A speaker system on the boat explaining what we were seeing would have been good and the aircon on the coach could be improved but we loved the day out.

Wish there was other trips we could have done but quad bikes with an 8 year old was not what we wanted more like this day trip would have been amazing as it’s nice bring by the pool getting the sun but good knowing about where you are and the history of the place

I thought the trip was worth the money. Ravadinovo Castle was beautiful and very interesting. The boat ride was alright, but no commentary as to where we were going or what we were seeing so it was just a quiet, short round trip on a boat? Sozopol was gorgeous and lots of great things to explore!

Firstly we was the only two collected from our location and we had to meet the tour at dreams when we was staying at secrets. It's advertised as an 8 hr trip, yet it turned out to be 10+ hours. The coach journey was 2 hrs each way. The boat trip was a shambles and you felt like the boat would tip over it was the rough. No guide with us to explain anything. Sozapol - lunch AWFUL! Kids chicken and chips was better than what we got. Didn't get long enough at the castle. Needed all afternoon.

Wycieczka godna polecenia, podziekowania dla experta Pani Natali, która ja polecila, podziekowania równiez dla Pani przewodnik za ogrom wiedzy, poczucie humoru i fajnie spedzony czas. Do poprawy cóz jesli chodzi o obiad na wycieczce fajnie jak bylby wybór 2 dan glównych ale i tak mnie smakowalo ;)

It was a really good day out. The TUI rep was very knowledgeable and we really liked also after he had told us the best places to go in Sozopol, the free time we had. We like all of the trip, the only thing we would have liked would have been more time at the castle, so perhaps to extend the day a bit longer so this was not as rushed as we didn’t have the time to see it all and spend time we wanted there.
