As you sail into Skjálfandi Bay, you'll be on the lookout for whales in their natural environment, accompanied by a dedicated team that holds a deep respect for the ocean. These tours, lasting approximately 2.5–3 hours, present an opportunity to spot a variety of whales such as humpback, minke, blue, fin, sei, sperm, killer, pilot, and northern bottlenose whales, along with white-beaked dolphins. The species you encounter will depend on the season. Throughout your journey, knowledgeable guides – who are marine biologists and trained naturalists – will share fascinating tales, making your experience both thrilling and informative. You have the option to choose between two distinctive boats: one is a sturdy vessel equipped with a heated indoor area and outdoor viewing decks, ideal for families and chillier days; the other is a beautifully refurbished traditional Icelandic oak boat featuring a spacious open deck, ideal for unobstructed wildlife viewing and photography. The tour adheres to responsible whale-watching guidelines, maintaining respectful distances and prioritising safety and animal welfare. Warm flotation overalls are provided, life jackets are available for children, and complimentary coffee is served in the harbour office before departure.

Meet at Friends of Moby Dick ticket office, across from where the boat Moby Dick is docked. Look out for the big flags with the logo and name. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the tour's start time. A big parking space is available just outside the local office, for a fee. Just 100 meters further, there is a free parking space. Public transportation is available nearby.
