Guided tour didn't really happen, we were walked to a church then told about another one we should go and look at. Pointed out where the Virgil museum, told us we could go there at any time then left. Thursday is market day in Mantua, mainly stalls were cheap clothing / fabric. Back on the minibus at 1pm then drove to Peschiera where we had about an hour before being collected for the boat. Boat ride was fab and best part of the day. Ducal Palace worth a visit, entry €18.

The overall trip was good. The boat trip with swim was great. Mantua was a bit of a disappointment. The Virgil museum was interesting but the town itself wasn't pretty or inviting

All of it, the museum tour was,nt my thing, would have prefered more of walking tour. The guide was brilliant gave us advice on what to eat and drink. He was witty and funny and knowledgable. The bus driver was excellent,we felt very safe in his hands. The boat trip was lovely.

This trip was far too long for what was offered, from our pick up to our drop off it was a solid 12 hours. The boat trip added almost 3 hours to the day, and was unnecessary, consisting of a 1/2 hr wait to board followed by 3/4 hour out and back cruise with a 20 min stop for some swimming in the middle of lake Garda. This trip would be more enjoyable by doing it on a non market day , and dropping the cruise , allowing more time in Mantova and it's various museums.

I enjoyed the guided tour and boat trip but for me getting to view Palazzo Te was my personal highlight. The tour allowed enough free time for me to do this.

Great
Have been to Mantua before so didnt go round with the guide. Trip was excellent but all guests were German (except one Israeli pair who spoke English) so had to listen to everything in German as well as English, and boat trip had Italian/German commentary. Although our excellent guide gave me a full English written translation and guide to the boat trip scenery. Listening to German language for most of the day however did not stop my enjoyment of this excellent excursion.

Enjoyed the whole day. The service from the guides was excellent - very friendly and helpful. Boat trip was lovely. All was well executed. Only negative was that several of the places we could visit seemed shut between 1 and 3pm, meaning difficult to visit in the free time. Overall excellent day out.

The guides were informative and friendly. The boat trip was good. Disappointed by the market being held at the same time as our trip as it spoilt the atmosphere of the medieval town. Entrance fees for theatre and/or museum should be part of the tour as it was expensive for a party of three.

My wife and I experienced this tour last year. This year we opted out of the guided walk in order to visit the Ducal Palace and the new museum. Enjoyed the boat tour again.

The tour was great, but would have been better if we had known that the museum was not part of it. We sheltered from the heat in the cathedral to then start the afternoon tour .....in the cathedral. It would be nice if the content was detailed. The actual afternoon tour guide was great and the boat trip late afternoon was also a nice inclusion.

Mantua is absolutely beautiful, the Ducal Palace is somewhere you must visit, just incredible. A real bargain at 15 Euros. Unfortunately this tour itinerary is not great, the walking tour is at 2pm although you arrive before 11am. We had already visited the palace, had lunch and were worn out by the heat by that point. Would be far better if this was first. The boat trip on the lakes surrounding the town was far too long - make sure you are covered in mosquito repellent! Remo was an ace guide!

I loved the boat trip on the lake. It was so much more interesting than I was expecting and it was a really enjoyable trip. The wildlife was lovely and the trip was not hurried. The only problem with the trip to Mantua is that the timing is difficult with everything closing just after the tour finished, it means you can't go back and have another look at things. The tour itself was interesting and informative, although sometimes you couldn't hear the guide. I would still recommend it, though.

Really good trip with good guides Only issue was that guided part of city tour was in afternoon - would have been better to do that first and have the free time in the city after it
