O que esperar
Cabo Verde es el hogar de la tercera mayor población de tortugas bobas y, durante los meses de junio a octubre, acuden a las costas de Boa Vista para desovar. Esta excursión nocturna le llevará a las playas de anidamiento con un biólogo marino, donde conocerá y presenciará a estas criaturas en su hábitat.Observar este fenómeno nocturno es algo que visitantes de todo el mundo vienen a presenciar. Y las playas de Boa Vista son el escenario en el que las tortugas bobas se acercan a la orilla -la misma playa en la que ellas mismas nacieron hace años y años- en busca del lugar perfecto para anidar.Acompañará a un biólogo marino en un paseo por la playa y empezará a seguir a las tortugas mientras aprende todo sobre el tercer lugar de anidamiento más grande del mundo. No se le permitirá llevar su cámara, ya que las tortugas se asustan con facilidad, así que tendrá que estar atento a la actividad en la arena cuando las tortugas lleguen para hacer sus nidos y emprender el camino de vuelta al mar.

The mode of transport was pretty poor. Although a 4x4 vehicle the seats were basic and sideways facing. Nowhere near enough support for the 45 mins of off roading that was required. People that travelled less distance had a better vehicle. The actual viewing of the turtles and the guide was excellent something to remember.

Leuk dat we babyschildpadjes naar zee konden begeleiden. Jammer dat we geen grote schildpad hebben zien leggen. Maar het was het eind van de legperiode ende natuur laat zich niet sturen. We hebben wel een grote schildpad gezien maar ze vond (volgens de bioloog/gids) blijkbaar het stukje strand niet goed genoeg want ze ging weer terug naar zee.

To be honest the tui sale person should and must point out to the customer that if they have back problems and knees problems they should not book this trip. The journey to beach is very, very rough and people with back problems will suffer and also one has to sit down completely in soft sand, with knee problems like myself had to ask two people to left me up every time. This was several times i falt so shamed. They should be a warning about this on the tui app.

When we booked this trip we were told that it would be no problem for myself on 2 crutches. That there was not too much walking, a lie, and that a guide would be able to keep an eye on me, again a lie. I saw 2 turtles then my crutches was caught on a root and down I went. I've hurt my left shoulder, ribs, back, left arm and wrist.

The turtle watching was an incredible experience, it should have been explained the length of journey & how bumpy it would be over rough terrain & not being very comfy in the back of a 4x4, I struggled to get in & out of the back, not a good tour if you have back problems.

It took a long time and movement to a different location to find a turtle, but the wait was worth it. But because we waited for such a long time it felt rushed at the end. We didn't get to watch the turtle reenter the sea which was disappointing. Would have preferred to have wondered the beach a bit more rather than stood next to the vehicle.

This experience fulfilled every hope and expectation we had when we booked it A clear night with no light pollution so the sky and stars were amazingly clear to see We were only in the waiting area for a very short period after the briefing before we were called down to the beach where the turtles were. We were privileged to have been able to watch a Loggerhead Turtle dig her nest and lay her eggs, but to top the night off we got to see baby turtles hatching and make their way to the sea

Brilliant experience watching loggerhead turtles making the nest, laying eggs and burying them. Even saw some little baby turtles. The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. It’s a very bumpy ride there and back, about an hour each way from Riu Touareg. Nothing you can do about that but just be prepared! It’s very very dark when you walk from the parking place to the beach, although it’s only 50m or so, giving everyone a red light torch might be a good idea, not just the guides.

het was een super ervaring om dit te zien mogen meemaken gids heeft goede uitleg gegeven alleen ze mocht wel wat langzamer in het engels mogen praten overigens kan ik wel goed engels maar deze ging zo snel... ten tweede mag er wat meer verlichting zijn want veel mensen vielen over de struiken die je niet ziet dus geef de mensen ook een verlichting zodat ze niet struikelen/vallen op het strand een tip..

The drive to the location was long and arduous and may not be suited to anyone with back or mobility issues. This definitely isn’t the fault of the tour guides but the information doesn’t make the 90 minute off road drive very clear. However, the experience on arrival was amazing and I feel so privileged to have watched a loggerhead turtle make its nest and lay over 50 eggs. The marine biologist was brilliant!

This excursion is a must! Absolute amazing experience seeing 2 turtles in the middle and beginning of their nesting. The guides are so passionate, and informative about the conservation of these beautiful creatures. We felt truly honoured to have experienced this and then to see them head back to the sea.

I feel the reps shud have told us people either mobility issues it may not be suitable. I am awaiting fir knee replacement surgery and was unable to sit in the sand. Which meant I was crouched over the whole time. Walking on the sand unable to see was also quite gard for us. My husband who is 70 was made to sit down on the sand even tho he also has issues with mobility. The transport there was very rough and at one point. I started to gave a panic attack in the back I fèl this was not mentioned

It was a chance of a lifetime to see the turtles nesting; and Helen our guide was very informative. However it would have been helpful if we were told beforehand that the trip to get there would take 2 hours off roading and obviously 2 hours back and it would have been helpful if our driver spoke a bit of English.

We thought there would be a be more of an educational session before actually seeing the turtles. The group was way to big for what is called a conservation tour. Guide sounded aggressive to the whole group when he should have just removed people who were not following instructions.

I was very happy with the experience, I didn’t actually expect to see much, but was treated to a life time experience, watching a Loggerhead Turtle dig a hole, lay its eggs, before covering and returning to the sea. The guide was very informative and I learned a great deal about these mysterious creatures. The only thing I would change, was then booking we were informed we could film but not photograph, with no light on. But on arrival it was explained ( and I fully understand why) no pictures.

The tour guide demonstrated a high level of expertise. The journey to the sea involved a considerable drive through the desert. The information provided at the site was highly valuable. I would recommend this experience and would consider participating again. We observed two turtles engaged in the nesting process, including egg-laying, nest construction, and their return to the sea.

Voorlichting was slecht. Zou 40min reistijd zijn maar was bijna 2 uur achterin 4WD in totaal met 8 personen samengepakt achterin, zonder veiligheidsriemen, geen enkele informatie, met chauffeur die geen Engels of wat sprak. Aangekomen hebben we met 25 mensen rondom 1 schildpad gezeten waar je nagenoeg niets van zag. Daarna weer 2 uur terug in zelfde 4WD samengepakt. Alles bij elkaar zeer slechte organisatie, Voorlichting, veiligheid etc etc. Zonde van het geld.

Wspaniala przygoda. Nocna wyprawa prawie off-road na drugi konie wyspy juz sama w sobie byla przezyciem. Obserwowanie zólwi od momentu wykopywania gniazda, skladania jaj az po ich zasypanie i wedrówke zólwicy z powrotem do oceanu. Lovely, but better if the group was smaller. We paid extra for a marine biologist and there were 2 in a group of 5 cars with approx 6/8 people. We were told that there would be 16 people for this experience. The guides kept saying group is too big to do this or that. Left after 45min, more turtles were coming out but our group was too big. We saw halfway through a turtle digging, laying her eggs, covering eggs. We were not allowed to watch her return to the water due to the size of the group.

Wir wurden trotz Buchungsbestätigung nicht mitgenommen, wir waren nicht auf der Teilnehmerliste und wurden stehen gelassen, mit dem Hinweis, vielleicht kommt ja noch ein weiterer Wagen. Somit standen wir über 1 Stunde rum, verplemperte Urlaubszeit. Am nächsten Tag bei der Reiseleitung erfahren, dass die Tour abgesagt wurde und vergessen wurde, uns zu informieren.Wurden jetzt auf eine andere Tour gebucht. Sehr ärgerlich und wir hätten irgendeine Entschädigung / Wiedergutmachung erwartet -Nichts

More information about the journey to the beach would help. An explanation of the journey to the other hotel to meet the guides and the 90 minute drive over rough ground to the beach would help people decide if it’s the right experience for them.

A magical experience which I would recommend to anyone BUT I feel there should have been more emphasis about the length of the journey to and from the beach. Also the off road sections were very rough and may not be suitable for everyone. Other than that I would have given this trip 10 out of 10.

Picked up and dropped off our our hotels. It was long journey but worth it. Information chat before hand in the camp about turtles on the island and effort taken to help preserve turtles. You aren't guaranteed to see the turtles but it all depends on nature. Guide laid rules and instructed us in how to move and watch without disturbing the turtles. Nice the hear that some of the cost is returned to the turtle conversation to help support this cause.

It was a very long trip, not at all suitable for anyone with back issues. Although watching the turtle was a once in a lifetime experience. Our driver never helped us out the vehicle, never spoke once, and we did not have a guide in vehicle. Once on beach the guide there was very good, explaining how the processes worked. Glad we did it, BUT for the uncomfortable trip there and back would not do it again!! Also for the females, a long time with NO toilet facilities

Jose the guide was very personable, and explained everything clearly and thoroughly. She and her helpers got us a very clear and close view of a nesting loggerhead turtle and the egg laying process. The TUI reps in selling this tour need to assess the suitability of it for their guests, as the rough nature of the jeep ride won’t suit everyone. Similarly the “beach walk” after leaving the jeep is in almost complete darkness over a lot of rough ground, including plenty of larger stones.warn guests

It was a truly magical experience watching a turtle lay her eggs and then cover up the nest. We were a lot closer to the turtle than I was expecting and had a brilliant view. Would highly recommend for something a little different to most other wildlife excursions.

We are 67 years old and found the journey to the turtle laying sight very uncomfortable, it was relentlessly bumpy! No toilet for our use! Difficult to get down on the sand to stay hidden in pitch black!

Het is schildpadden seizoen en men was heel enthousiast.Het zou 2 a 4 uur duren. Uiteindelijk was het van 19:00/01:30 zonder eten en drinken- znd vestje, maar ook znd een schildpad te zien. Ook anderen waren erg teleurgesteld in hoe het gecommuniceerd is en de ervaring zelf.

Sadly didn’t see any turtles. But more importantly the excursion wasn’t properly explained when we booked. We were only told to wear dark clothing and sensible shoes. We weren’t told we would be sat on the cold beach for 3 hours in the dark waiting to see if any turtles came up. The journey there was also off road extremely bumpy and uncomfortable.

We were given very little information on what to expect on the excursion, in particular that there were no toilet facilities or that there was a lot of walking involved. Some members of our group struggled immensely with sitting on sand for 2 hours and then a very long walk across the sand and rocks to reach the nesting site. So much so, they almost missed the nesting process entirely. The whole experience felt dangerous.

In 1 woord, wauw. Veel informatie gekregen over de plek en de schildpadden. De bioloog was wat gebrekkig Engels, maar met goed luisteren kwam je er wel uit wat hij zei. We hebben een schildpad zien graven, eitjes leggen en ook weer begraven van de eitjes. Once in a lifetime!

We were excited to attend the turtle tour. The journey was ok as we had read the reviews and enjoyed the off road bit. The briefing was interrupted understandably as a turtle was nesting but then it wasn't completed so we didn't get the information. That was all we got to see. It lasted the minimum time and no real effort was made to find any other nesting turtles. It was disappointing and rushed. We were just tourist cash cows and saw more walking along the beach during the day. Disappointing!

Pour accéder à la plage, très sombre, une lampe rouge pour 2/3 personnes serait idéal. Niveau rapport qualité prix, 80€ pour 1h30 de 4x4 et 1h30 sur place pour quelques explications semble exagéré. Hormis la ponte et des bébés tortues, nous n avons pas suivi la tortue retourner dans l’eau, nous l avons à peine aperçu.

Overall we enjoyed a magical experience, however we were told on several occasions no cameras which we complied with, but after speaking to other visitors who visited the following day, they were allowed to take videos & photos which enhanced their experience.

Would be great to be able to hear about the project more, but the turtles weren't waiting for the intro to finish, the turtle handlers were great and so knowledgeable and showed huge care for the turtles wellbeing

Amazing my experience, saw 3 turtles laying eggs and was lucky enough to hold some of the babies that were hatching around us. Would be better if there was more information from the staff about the turtles, but the turtle viewing itself was excellent

It was a large group, so we could barely hear the guide as he didn't speak to the whole group. Additionally, I spider warning would be nice as they're HUUUUGE in the camp!!

Overall good experience for a worthwhile cause however, our particular guide wasn't as knowledgeable as seemed to dodge/ignore our questions. Also disappointed that we weren't allowed to watch the release of the baby turtles, just shown them in a bucket and they then went and released them. Seemed a lot of money for what it was

Due to the unpredictability of whether we would see a turtle or not on this trip I was pleased that we were able to see one and catch glimpses of a couple of baby turtles too. Guide was very knowledgeable and visibly cared about the turtles. I would have liked to stay around a bit longer to see if anymore came by. The government will be increasing the price of this trip and I feel that people will expect more from it

We were lucky to see 4 adult female turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs. The full moon illuminated the beach and together with the guides red torches we saw everything. Mrs J loves turtles so it made her holiday. It was quite moving - and I’m a bloke! The guides were informative and made the experience educational too. Ignore comments about it being dark and rough journey - it’s called nature. Great ‘trip’ . Thank you

Really great trip. What a privilege to be so close to a turtle whilst laying her eggs. The guide was very knowledgeable and explained the plight of the turtle. The jeep ride was fun!!!

The experience was lovely. The guides very knowledgeable. Didn't give 10 out of 10 as journey home was pretty awful. We were packed into a rickety 4x4 and it was horrendously uncomfortable. I am quite small abd was thrown around. However lived seeing the turtles and the babies were so cute.

Really enjoyed going to the beach and watching the turtle make its nest and lay its eggs. We were lucky enough to see baby turtles hatch at the same time. We were not told about the 1h 30 minute journey there and 1hr 30 minute journey back. Travel vehicle was cramped and uncomfortable and really didn’t feel safe on the journey through certain towns and completely off road in the middle of no where.

Seeing the turtles was fabulous - the journey there and back was less so! We were not informed about the length of journey and were not told to bring water. This excursion is not really suitable for those with back or joint pain as the travel is not comfortable at all.

Very bumpy ride to see the turtles,got there and one was laying her eggs, then the baby turtles started coming out of the sand,the ride isn't for the faint hearted, could do with a bit more cushion on the seats

Seeing the turtles was obviously the main goal and was achieved quickly. The timings of the pickup really ought to be matched for meal times at the hotel. No one ought to be crunched up in the back of a van for an hour and a half immediately after having spent 20 minutes shovelling food down their throats.

Kudos to the drives for driving out in complete darkness through the dessert, wow , now that's an experience on its own right there , as for the turtles, my days , unique , once in a life time opportunity to see them laying eggs naturally in their natural habitat, fantastic , we got to see newly born also , again a very lucky and unique moment , visibility is awfully reduced but once you get there just enjoy the silence and the uniqueness of the moment .
