ARTIS Amsterdam Royal ZooExplore ARTIS Amsterdam Zoo located 10 minutes from city centre, directly on one of the canals. Visit the elephant calves playing outside, historic monuments, and beautiful flower gardens. Take a trip through space inside the Planetarium (admission included). Feel the fluttering of countless wings in the Butterfly Pavilion and take a restful break at one of our vegetarian restaurants.Visit ARTIS and celebrate the reopening of the ARTIS Aquarium this summer. Dive into the fascinating underwater world of the ARTIS Aquarium and discover ecosystems up close. Admire colorful coral reefs, meet special fish and take a look under the water surface of the Amsterdam canal. Learn more about fresh water and be surprised by the stories behind the aquariums. ARTIS-Groote Museum In this interactive museum of nature in Amsterdam, you'll discover how humans, animals, plants, and microbes together form one ecosystem. By touching, smelling, listening, and observing, you'll experience that we, as humans, are also part of nature. Through 1,000 large and small examples, you'll explore the similarities between yourself and other animals and plants. Did you know that trees communicate with each other, just like neighbors? Or that babies move in ways similar to crocodiles? Set off on a journey of discovery through many interactive machines and be moved by art, sounds, and scents. In this way, you'll gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of your connection with nature.

Pets are not allowed
Know in advance:
Infants (age 0-2) can enter the Zoo for free. Children (age 0-12) can enter the Museum for free
ARTIS-Groote Museum is located on the Artisplein, next to the Chilean flamingos
Assistance dogs are permitted, they need to be registered at the ticket office upon presentation of dog identification card showing that the dog has been trained.
ARTIS-Groote Museum is open daily: 10.00am-5.00pm. The opening time is extended until 10 pm on Thursdays
ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo is open daily including holidays: 1 March to 31 October: From 9.00am - 6.00pm. 1 November to 28 February: From 9.00am - 5.00pm
During the holidays, adjusted opening hours apply to both locations: 24, 25, 26 December 9 am - 5 pm. 31 December 9 am - 4 pm. 1 January 10 am - 5 pm
